Caitlyn was 2XKO’s first post-launch champion in Riot’s 2026 release sequence. She joined with Season 1 in January 2026, bringing a range-focused playstyle built around traps and carefully aimed rifle shots. Riot later announced that active development would end in December 2026, although the game’s servers would remain online beyond that.

Who was 2XKO’s first post-launch champion?

Caitlyn was the first champion Riot planned to release in 2XKO’s 2026 sequence. Riot introduced her as a fighter built around long-range precision, movement and mix, making her rifle a defining part of how she controls space.

She was not a launch-roster newcomer: Riot’s January 15 update described her as the first planned champion release of 2026. Riot’s January 15 update set out that release order.

When did Caitlyn come to 2XKO?

Riot’s patch notes, published January 19, 2026, said Caitlyn was being added with Season 1. Season 1 and the console launch began January 20 or January 21, depending on region, so the local date varied. The Season 1 patch notes confirm her arrival.

How does Caitlyn play in 2XKO?

Riot classifies Caitlyn as a range-focused zoner. She uses traps to limit where opponents can move, then threatens them with rifle attacks from a distance. Her official move list describes Rifle Shot as a long-range projectile that can be aimed manually and charged. Riot’s Caitlyn move list details her abilities and playstyle.

In practical terms, her tools reward players who manage spacing and anticipate an opponent’s approach. Traps help shape the available routes through the stage; the rifle lets her punish or pressure from range. Riot’s description also highlights movement and mix, so her identity is not limited to staying far away and firing.

Is 2XKO shutting down?

Not according to Riot’s August 20, 2026 announcement: the studio said active development would end in December 2026, but the game would remain playable. Riot’s exact statement was: “Servers will remain on beyond 2026, and 2XKO will be playable on all platforms.” Riot’s announcement says the decision followed a lack of sustained player retention sufficient to establish a sustainable path.

Riot said it expected to finish work-in-progress content, make improvements, add Lux and Samira during 2026, and conduct a final bug-fix pass in December. Those were plans stated in August, not confirmation that each item was completed. The announcement also said 2XKO would remain available to download for free on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.

How do players access Caitlyn?

Riot’s August plan said all champions would be unlocked for all players in patch 1.3.1. The announcement establishes that as the intended access change; it does not by itself confirm whether every later implementation detail occurred as planned. Riot’s January launch notes described 2XKO as free to play on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with crossplay and shared account progress.
