For your first runs in 33 Immortals, learn one weapon’s timing, stay near allies without standing in one crowded clump, and watch for enemy attacks before committing to damage or a revive. The game is built around large-group cooperation, so survival and helping the team matter more at first than chasing solo damage or a perfect build.
What should I learn first in 33 Immortals?
Start with the basic controls, then learn to read enemy attacks and move with the group. Thunder Lotus describes 33 Immortals as a co-op action roguelike for 33 players; its Xbox listing also describes instant matchmaking, parties of up to four friends, pings, cooperative abilities, and revives. You can enter solo or with friends, but the encounters reward players who help one another.
- Read the tutorial prompts. Get comfortable moving, attacking, and dodging before worrying about builds.
- Practice only what feels unclear. Training Rooms can help with controls or weapon timing, but they cannot reproduce the pressure of group movement, objectives, and revives in a Journey.
- Start a Journey when the controls feel readable. Treat the first run as orientation, not a test of mastery.
- Stay close enough to help and be helped. Avoid wandering off after isolated enemies, but do not stand directly on top of everyone; a single shared attack can punish a tight cluster.
- After a run, identify one mistake to work on. Examples include getting separated, missing attack tells, reviving unsafely, panicking into danger, or committing to a long attack just before a boss move.
If you already understand the controls, skip practice and go straight into a Journey. You will learn the group’s flow and objective timing by playing.
How do you stay alive in a large co-op fight?
Move with the group
Think of nearby allies as part of your survival plan. Follow the group’s direction during rotations and objectives rather than chasing a distant enemy. If a hazard targets you, reposition without dragging it through your teammates.

Wait for the attack before taking your damage window
Watch an enemy’s pattern and look for an opening after its threat resolves. Attacking through a dangerous tell can leave you unable to dodge or retreat in time, especially when you are still learning a weapon’s recovery.
Revive only when the opening is safe
A revive can save a run, but forcing one through active heavy attacks may put another player down. Check the encounter first. After someone revives you, play conservatively for a short time so the group has room to stabilize.

Use cooperative abilities when the team can benefit
Do not hold a useful team ability indefinitely while the group is under pressure. Use it when allies can make practical use of it, and pay attention to pings and other players’ movement even if you are not using voice chat.
Should I use Training Rooms before my first Journey?
Use a Training Room if movement, dodging, attacks, or a weapon’s timing still feel unclear. It is a practice aid, not a substitute for a real run: isolated practice cannot teach the pressure of group movement, objective timing, or deciding whether a revive is safe. Once you can control your character and understand your basic attacks, a Journey is the better place to learn how encounters unfold.

How should beginners choose a weapon?
Choose a weapon whose range, attack rhythm, and recovery you can read. There is no durable universal beginner ranking established here, and a difficult run may reflect unfamiliar enemy tells or poor positioning rather than a bad weapon.
| Weapon approach | What to consider as a beginner |
|---|---|
| Ranged | Can make it easier to learn spacing; still pay attention to attack tells and where the group is moving. |
| Melee | Requires cleaner timing and controlled retreats, especially when an enemy is preparing to attack. |
| Support-oriented | May suit players who naturally stay near allies and look for ways to help the group. |
Use the in-game Compendium to compare range, role, and attack rhythm before spending progression resources. An official October 28, 2025 update described the Crossbows of Pride as rapid-fire ranged weapons and the Glaive of Temperance as a mid-range melee weapon built around careful timing and resource management. Those descriptions illustrate different play patterns, not a current weapon ranking; balance may have changed since that update.

How should I approach upgrades and progression?
First decide what you want to improve: safer spacing, clearer melee timing, team utility, or pressure on bosses. Then choose upgrades with that goal in mind. Relics can change how your current run plays, while perks and upgrades are easier to judge once you have noticed a recurring problem across runs. Avoid spending resources just because an option sounds powerful; connect it to something you are trying to fix or do better.

Not as a substitute for learning a weapon you can use comfortably. Weapon rankings, build recipes, and progression advice are patch-sensitive. Thunder Lotus’s August 17, 2026 update 1.1 announcement described the Fate System, daily events and quests, and balance changes. Use a tier list only if it is clearly tied to the current version and explains its assumptions; for a first run, readable range and timing are more useful criteria.

Is solo play the right way to learn?
You can enter solo, but the game’s central encounters are designed around large-group co-op. Solo entry does not remove the value of learning to stay near other players, follow group movement, and contribute to shared survival. If you play without friends, use the available in-game emotes and pings to coordinate.
Where can I play, and does progress transfer between stores?
Thunder Lotus says version 1.0 released on Steam, Xbox, and Epic Games Store on June 10, 2026, and its FAQ confirms cross-platform play. The same FAQ says saves cannot be transferred between storefront accounts, so choose the account you intend to use before building progress there.
