3DMark’s NVIDIA DLSS feature test supports DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation (MFG) in feature-test version 1.5. The update appeared in 3DMark Windows version 2.31.8372, released January 30, 2025. UL says testing MFG in this feature test requires a GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU; that requirement does not apply to every DLSS 4 mode.
What changed in 3DMark
UL added DLSS 4 and DLSS Multi Frame Generation support to the NVIDIA DLSS feature test. The update was developed in partnership with NVIDIA, according to UL’s announcement.
There are two relevant version labels. The Windows application release was 3DMark 2.31.8372, dated January 30, 2025, in UL’s release notes. The feature-test revision is version 1.5 in the feature test’s separate version history. UL notes that feature-test version numbers are specific to each test.
How the DLSS feature test works
The test uses Port Royal, 3DMark’s ray-tracing benchmark, and compares two passes. In the baseline pass, Port Royal renders at the selected output resolution with DLSS disabled and TAA enabled. In the second, the scene renders at a lower resolution and DLSS processes the image for the chosen output resolution. 3DMark reports the frame rate for each pass; it is a comparison in this test scene, not a forecast of performance in every game.

UL describes MFG as using AI to generate up to three additional frames for each traditionally rendered frame, with NVIDIA Reflex used to optimize responsiveness. That is a description of the feature’s capability, not a guarantee of a corresponding increase in native rendering speed or of a particular experience in a game. See UL’s announcement and its feature-test overview.
GPU requirements and DLSS modes
UL specifies a GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU for DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation in this feature test. Do not treat that as a universal DLSS 4 hardware requirement: UL says Super Resolution is available for all RTX GPUs, while other features have their own requirements. The RTX 50 Series requirement is specifically for testing MFG here.

The test offers DLSS versions 1 through 4. For DLSS 4, UL lists Quality, Balanced, Performance, Ultra Performance where the resolution permits, and DLAA. Available modes depend on the output resolution and setup; they are not necessarily all shown together. The UL overview describes feature support and requirements.
Resolution and scaling affect comparisons
The documented default output is 2560 × 1440. The test also offers 1080p, 1440p, 4K and 8K output options, but UL’s instructions restrict 8K to DLSS 2 and DLSS 3. Mode availability can vary with output resolution. In addition, output may be scaled to the Scaled resolution setting in 3DMark’s Options screen; it defaults to Automatic, which follows the Windows desktop display resolution. These details are covered in UL’s instructions for testing DLSS performance.

For a useful comparison between runs, keep the benchmark scene and settings constant. Record the GPU, DLSS version, quality mode and output resolution, and note whether display scaling is active. Otherwise, a changed frame rate may reflect a different test setup rather than the hardware or DLSS change you meant to evaluate.

The feature test gives a controlled before-and-after frame-rate comparison for Port Royal with DLSS off and on. It does not establish a universal ranking of graphics cards or show how a particular game will perform. The frame rates are results from the selected test settings, not a general measure of image quality. For broader context, UL describes the feature test as a way to compare performance and image quality when DLSS processing is enabled, but the two reported pass rates alone should not be treated as a complete image-quality assessment.
