Titanfall 2 VR can cause discomfort because the game shows fast movement and turning while your body remains still. The mod also documents a separate camera issue: in its rendered 3D cutscenes, the view follows your head instead of staying fixed to the scene. Try snap turning, address frame-rate hitches, and keep your head still during those cutscenes—but no setting is guaranteed to prevent symptoms.
What this advice applies to
The Titanfall 2 VR project is an alpha mod for the single-player campaign, implemented as a Northstar client plugin using OpenXR. Its README documents version 0.1.1 and reports development and testing with Meta Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR headsets through Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime. Other headsets and runtimes are described as untested, not necessarily incompatible. The project lists Titanfall 2, Northstar, an OpenXR runtime, and a PC-VR-capable GPU as requirements. These are project-reported details, not independent compatibility verification. See the mod README and its known-issues page for version-specific information.
The causes and suggestions below combine this mod’s documentation with Meta’s general VR comfort guidance; they are not results from a controlled Titanfall 2 sickness study. Meta’s comfort guidance, marked updated December 17, 2025, says: “Motion sickness can occur when there is a mismatch between what the user sees and how they move.”
Why Titanfall 2 VR may feel uncomfortable
Fast movement without matching physical motion
The campaign includes running, jumping, wall-running, sliding, and other rapid traversal. In VR, your eyes can see the environment rush past even though your body is not moving in the same way. That visual–physical mismatch can contribute to motion sickness, but it does not mean every player will feel sick or that one movement is the cause for everyone. Meta’s explanation is in its Comfort guidance.

Smooth turning sweeps the view
The mod documents both smooth and snap turning. Smooth turning rotates the view continuously; snap turning moves it in fixed steps without rendering the sweep between directions. The mod’s controls reference describes snap turning as a way to help with motion sickness. This is a documented comfort rationale, not a clinical comparison showing that snap turning works better for every player.
Rendered 3D cutscenes can be head-locked
For version 0.1.1, the project lists an open issue in which the rendered 3D cutscene camera is pinned to the user’s head. As you turn your head, the picture moves with you rather than remaining anchored to the scene. That can make visual movement conflict with what your body senses. The project’s workaround is to keep your head still during these short cutscenes; it is not a fix and may not be comfortable or sufficient for everyone. Frame stalls can add irregular motion
The mod’s known-issues documentation reports periodic frame stalls and stalls during level loads. Meta’s locomotion guidance recommends a consistent frame rate to prevent judder. A hitch is a possible discomfort trigger distinct from fast locomotion or the cutscene camera issue. The reports do not establish that every stall is caused by the mod.
Comfort varies from person to person
People can have different triggers and tolerances. Meta recommends customizable locomotion options, but neither its general advice nor this mod’s documentation establishes a universally safe configuration. There is no cited controlled study measuring how often Titanfall 2 VR causes motion sickness.

Adjustments to try, in order
- Switch to snap turning. Open the mod’s settings, change the turning mode from smooth to snap, then adjust the snap angle and response until the steps feel manageable. Start with deliberate, smaller changes rather than assuming one angle suits everyone. The mod’s controls reference documents both turning modes.
- Keep your head still during affected 3D cutscenes. This is the project’s workaround for the head-locked camera in its documented version. It does not repair the camera behavior.
- If performance hitches, lower render resolution. The README gives a default render resolution of 75% of headset panel height because the mod does not measure the user’s GPU. It advises lowering resolution if frame rate is poor; raise it only if the image looks too soft and frame rate remains fine. Lower resolution trades sharpness for potential rendering headroom—it is not a general motion-sickness switch. Consult the README for the project’s stated default and advice.
- If stalls persist, test the connection separately. For stalls the project tentatively associates with the runtime or headset link, it suggests experiments such as a wired connection, lower streaming bitrate, or a different codec. The link explanation is a hypothesis, and these are troubleshooting tests—not proven causes or established sickness treatments. The mod’s known-issues page describes them.
- Pause or stop if symptoms begin. Do not treat nausea as something to push through. The project documentation does not establish a symptom threshold or medical treatment.
How to choose between the main settings
