No GTA 4 feature has been officially confirmed as returning in GTA 6. Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed GTA 6’s release date, platforms and several new activities, but neither company has published a five-item list of returning GTA 4 mechanics. The five features below are recurring fan expectations, not confirmed launch features.
What Rockstar and Take-Two have officially confirmed
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two has announced a $79.99 price, while Rockstar’s official store also lists the November 19 release date. Those details establish the current launch plan, not the final list of gameplay systems.

Current reporting on a September 2026 Game Informer interview says Rockstar officially confirmed GTA VI activities including kayaking, zoo visits, street racing, off-road racing, wrestling, pool, mini-golf and gyms. That confirms activities in GTA VI; it does not establish that they are returning GTA IV features or that every activity will work exactly as it did in an earlier game.
Five GTA 4 features fans expect to return
These are the five GTA IV mechanics most often raised when players ask what might come back. None has been named by Rockstar or Take-Two as an officially returning GTA IV feature.

1. The phone and internet systems
GTA IV made the protagonist’s phone central to missions, contacts, messages and optional interactions. Its in-game internet also provided a way to discover characters, advertisements and activities inside Liberty City. Fans therefore expect GTA VI’s protagonists to have a similarly useful phone, potentially with a more modern interface and broader online-style functionality.
Trailers or screenshots showing a phone, messages or a website would demonstrate that an interface exists, but they would not by themselves confirm the complete GTA IV-style system, its mission role or its final feature set. Rockstar would need to describe those mechanics directly for them to qualify as officially returning.
2. Dating and relationship activities
Dating was a recognizable GTA IV side system: players could arrange outings and build relationships with certain characters. Because GTA VI follows two protagonists, fans regularly ask whether it will restore that kind of relationship progression.

There is no official confirmation that dating returns. A trailer showing romantic scenes, social events or a relationship between the protagonists would still leave open whether GTA VI includes selectable dates, relationship meters, repeatable activities or mission consequences. Those details should not be assumed until Rockstar specifies them.
3. Bowling, pool and other social mini-games
GTA IV’s bowling and pool helped turn leisure activities into repeatable parts of the open world. Pool has been listed among the activities officially confirmed for GTA VI, but that is evidence of a GTA VI pool activity—not proof that GTA IV’s implementation is returning unchanged.
The same distinction matters for bowling and other mini-games. Unless Rockstar names a specific GTA IV activity, its rules or its availability at launch, fans should treat reports and visual appearances as indications of content rather than confirmation of a returning mechanic.

4. Taxis and other world-interaction services
Taxis in GTA IV offered a practical way to move around Liberty City and made the city feel like a functioning transport network. Players consequently expect GTA VI to include taxis or an equivalent travel service, especially in a larger, modern setting.

A vehicle that resembles a taxi in a trailer only confirms the vehicle’s presence. It does not confirm that players can hail it, ride as passengers or use it to skip across the map.
5. Restaurants, food and everyday social interactions
Restaurants and food-related outings are another frequently cited GTA IV feature. They gave characters places to meet and made the city’s commercial spaces more than scenery. Fans expect GTA VI to expand that idea with more venues and interactions.

Rockstar has not officially said that GTA IV’s restaurant visits, ordering system or food effects are returning. A storefront, dining scene or character eating in a trailer can establish environmental detail without confirming a usable restaurant mechanic. The final implementation could range from fully interactive venues to purely cinematic locations.

- Inference: Fans connect a familiar GTA IV mechanic to a new scene, setting or character without an official statement.
Only the first category supports the phrase “officially returning from GTA IV.” The second can support “shown in GTA VI,” while the third should be described as an expectation or possibility. This distinction is especially important for phone systems, dating, taxis and restaurants, where a brief visual does not reveal the underlying gameplay.

What to watch for before launch
A reliable five-feature list would require Rockstar or Take-Two to identify each GTA IV mechanic directly. The most useful confirmation would state whether the feature is a story system, side activity or general world interaction; show whether it is planned for launch; and explain whether it has been redesigned for GTA VI.
Until that happens, the confirmed picture is narrower: GTA VI has a November 19, 2026 release date on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, a $79.99 price announced by Take-Two, and officially reported activities such as kayaking, zoo visits, racing, wrestling, pool, mini-golf and gyms. Those facts are substantial, but they do not turn five fan-favorite GTA IV mechanics into an official returning-feature list.
