PaymoneyWubby says Twitch’s reported 50/50 subscription split for new streamers is “highway robbery” and urged creators not to stream there. In an interview reported on October 14, 2026, he contrasted Twitch’s terms with Kick’s reported 95/5 split, while acknowledging that platform choice involves more than the headline percentage.
What PaymoneyWubby said about Twitch
Wubby identified subscription revenue share as his main frustration with Twitch, the Amazon-owned livestreaming service. “As someone who has been fighting my own streaming platform for years, I feel a constant level of frustration over one, the sub split,” he said in the interview.

According to the report, Twitch’s reported arrangement for new streamers is a 50/50 split. Wubby called that “highway robbery” and said it was no longer industry standard, particularly after the rise of Kick. He also criticized Twitch’s “transparency and communication,” arguing that many creators do not know how to negotiate with the platform.
His blunt recommendation was: “I would tell everyone, don’t stream on Twitch; you’re getting robbed.” Wubby currently streams across both Twitch and Kick, so the comments come from a creator using both platforms rather than from someone describing a single-platform career.

Is Twitch really 50/50 for new streamers?
The cited reporting describes 50/50 as Twitch’s reported split for new streamers. It does not establish that every creator receives identical contract terms, nor does it publish a universal schedule covering all channels, regions or subscription products.
Wubby also said Twitch may offer a 70/30 split as a creator grows. That figure should be read as a possible higher-tier arrangement, not an automatic promotion or a guarantee for every streamer. Eligibility requirements, contract language and the point at which a creator might qualify were not specified in the interview coverage.

Why Kick’s 95/5 figure changes the argument
Wubby contrasted Twitch with Kick’s reported 95/5 subscription split. “You can say what you want about Kick; at the very least, they are doing a 95/5 sub split,” he said. The comparison highlights the amount a creator is credited with under each reported percentage, but it does not prove that a creator will earn more overall after moving.
| Issue | Twitch | Kick |
|---|---|---|
| Reported subscription share for new creators | 50/50, according to the interview report | 95/5, as cited by Wubby and summarized in the reports |
| Higher share for established creators | Wubby said a 70/30 arrangement may be available as a creator grows; eligibility was not stated | Not stated in the cited reporting |
| Audience size and conversion rates | Not established by the cited reporting | Not established by the cited reporting |
| Platform rules and transparency | Wubby criticized Twitch’s transparency and communication | No independently verified comparison was provided |

Should streamers leave Twitch for Kick?
The percentage alone cannot answer that question. A creator’s result depends on how many paying viewers follow them, how many subscriptions convert on the new service, discoverability, advertising income and the rules attached to an individual contract. The available reporting supplies no audited profitability figures, creator-by-creator net income or controlled Twitch-versus-Kick earnings comparison.

When the higher split may matter
If a streamer retained the same number of paying subscribers after moving, a 95/5 split would leave the creator with a larger stated share of subscription revenue than a 50/50 split. That is a mathematical comparison of percentages, not a forecast: losing viewers or converting fewer viewers can erase the difference.
What a move could put at risk
Before changing platforms, a streamer would need to assess whether their audience will follow, whether existing sponsorships or contracts permit simulcasting or migration, and whether the destination’s moderation and content rules fit their channel. The reports do not establish that either service offers universally better advertising conditions, reach or long-term financial sustainability.

What “70/30” means in Wubby’s criticism
Wubby’s reference to 70/30 describes a possible improved Twitch share for creators who meet growth-related conditions. It does not mean every successful channel receives that rate, and it does not show how Twitch defines “growth.” A streamer should verify the current written offer and its eligibility requirements rather than assume that subscriber milestones automatically change the split.

- Check the actual contract. Treat the reported 50/50, 70/30 and 95/5 figures as cited arrangements, not a substitute for the terms offered to your channel.
- Model audience retention. Compare expected paying subscribers and conversion rates on each platform, not just the percentage retained per subscription.
- Review non-subscription income. Advertising terms and other revenue conditions were not established in the reporting and may materially change the result.
- Evaluate platform fit. Compare communication, moderation, content rules and sponsorship restrictions before committing to a move.
- Test before abandoning an audience. If contracts allow it, a measured multistreaming or trial strategy can reveal whether viewers actually follow; no guarantee of higher total income has been established.
Wubby’s “robbery” accusation is therefore a forceful critique of Twitch’s reported entry-level split, not proof that every streamer would earn more elsewhere. The central dispute is whether the larger percentage on another platform outweighs differences in audience, conversion, contracts, advertising and platform risk.
