The best XP farm in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 depends on where you are in the campaign and how quickly you can win the fights. Start with Flying Waters or the Hidden Gestral Arena, move to Sirene Island or the Act 2 beaches, then consider the Monolith or Renoir’s Drafts later. These are guide-recommended routes, not an official ranking or controlled XP-per-hour comparison.

Which XP farm should you use at your current point?

Location When to try it Best suited to Reset or yield notes
Hidden Gestral Arena Early game, after Esquie’s Nest A focused one-character challenge BrokenBuilds reports 26,040 XP per victory; its example Maelle setup can win in under a minute with good parry timing. These are guide-reported figures, not independently verified benchmarks.
Flying Waters Early game Clearing available enemies while progressing Destructoid recommends it for a steady supply of early-game enemies; it gives no measured yield or route time.
Sirene Island Mid-game, after unlocking swimming Clearing Dancers along a route BrokenBuilds reports roughly 20,000–40,000 XP per fight depending on group size and about 100,000 XP for a full sweep; Expedition Flag 67 can reset enemies.
Act 2 beaches Act 2 Repeating individual battles Destructoid reports roughly 50,000 XP per battle and says camping respawns enemies. Its opened guide text does not give a precise beach name.
The Monolith Near the end of Act 2 or in Act 3 Clearing a broad group of enemies Rest at a nearby point to heal and respawn surrounding enemies. Vortex reports a 283,000 XP, five-Lumina example run with a specified party and build; do not assume every run pays the same.
Renoir’s Drafts Endgame Repeated high-reward encounter, if you can win consistently BrokenBuilds reports about 2,000,000 XP for a clean Grour fight. Vortex also describes the encounter as repeatable and emphasizes a level-80 build.

These figures come from secondary guides: Destructoid (published April 30, 2025; updated May 1, 2025), BrokenBuilds (published June 22, 2026; updated June 27, 2026), and Vortex Gaming (publication date not established). They are recommendations and reported examples, not a shared controlled test.

Early game: build levels without taking on late-game fights

Hidden Gestral Arena: a short, focused challenge

The arena opens after the events in Esquie’s Nest, between Gestral Village and the Ancient Sanctuary, according to BrokenBuilds. Destructoid locates it to the right of a Gestral Beach. Its fights pit one character against challenging opponents, so it can be a useful way to concentrate XP on the participant rather than clear a long route. BrokenBuilds identifies Julien Tiny Head as the final fighter and reports 26,040 XP per victory. Its example Maelle setup can finish in under a minute with good parry timing, but the time and yield depend on that guide’s setup and execution.

Flying Waters: clear what is available as you advance

Destructoid recommends Flying Waters as an early-game area with a steady supply of enemies, specifically mentioning Gustave, Lune, and Maelle. It is a convenient area-clear option while progressing, not a quantified fastest farm: the guide does not provide an XP total or route timing.

Mid-game: choose a route clear or repeat battles

Sirene Island: sweep the Dancers

Unlock Esquie’s swimming ability to reach Sirene Island, then clear the Dancers along the main path. BrokenBuilds estimates roughly 20,000–40,000 XP per fight depending on enemy group size and about 100,000 XP for a complete sweep. It says Expedition Flag 67 can refresh the enemies, making the area a route-based loop rather than a single encounter. Destructoid also recommends clearing Dancers along the path.

Act 2 beaches: repeat battles near camp

Destructoid recommends a beach on the west side of the map, reporting roughly 50,000 XP per battle and advising players to camp to respawn enemies. The guide text does not provide the beach’s precise name, so use the west-side description rather than relying on a guessed location label. If repeating the same fights becomes tedious, Destructoid suggests Sirene as an alternative.

Late campaign: prioritize clear speed and reliable resets

The Monolith: clear the path, then refresh it

Destructoid’s loop is to enter from the main entrance, clear the path, and use a nearby rest point to heal and respawn surrounding enemies. Vortex describes Monolith farming as accessible near the end of Act 2 and optimizable early in Act 3. Its example run reports 283,000 XP and five Lumina per execution for a specified party and build; those results are not a guaranteed payout for other teams.

Renoir’s Drafts: a high-ceiling repeat encounter

Destructoid calls Renoir’s Drafts its best endgame option and describes the area as capable of producing millions of XP against difficult enemies. BrokenBuilds identifies a repeatable fight with Grour, a Gestral Merchant encountered with an Aberration and a Contorsionniste near the golden tree south of Visages, and reports about 2,000,000 XP for a clean win. Vortex also describes a repeatable merchant encounter and stresses a level-80 build. Treat it as a strong option only if your team can clear the encounter reliably; a high reward per win does not make it efficient if the fight is slow or leads to frequent defeats.

Strong alternate routes and challenge content

Dark Shores: an alternative when your build is ready

Destructoid recommends delaying Dark Shores until Act 3 and says rest spots can respawn enemies. BrokenBuilds reports at least 800,000 XP from a pack of three Noire, as well as a guaranteed Grandiose Chroma Catalyst. Depending on your campaign stage and build, it can be a strong alternative to the Monolith.

Frozen Hearts: a demanding high-level area

Destructoid places Frozen Hearts to the right of the Carousel and describes it as a challenging area, suggesting roughly level 50 before attempting it. That level is a guide recommendation, not an official requirement. The guide highlights perfect parries; consider this route if you are comfortable with its combat demands, rather than treating it as an easy farm.

Endless Tower and Verso’s Drafts: added content, not proven superior farms

The free Thank You Update added new late-game bosses in the Endless Tower and a separate Verso’s Drafts level, according to PlayStation Blog’s December 11, 2025 announcement. That announcement establishes added content, not that either location is a better repeatable XP farm. Check the current in-game route and encounter details before choosing them for XP grinding.

How to make an XP loop worthwhile

Use a nearby rest point or Expedition Flag when the route supports it: fight, return to heal and refresh enemies, then repeat. BrokenBuilds describes this general pattern and names Flag 67 for Sirene; Destructoid describes nearby camp or rest resets at the Act 2 beaches, Monolith, and Dark Shores.

  • Compare clear time and consistency, not just XP per battle. Enemy group size, build strength, deaths, and distance from the reset point all affect how much progress you make.
  • Use focused fights such as the Hidden Gestral Arena when you want to direct XP toward one participating character; use area routes when you can clear groups quickly.
  • Improve your build as well as your character level. BrokenBuilds emphasizes Pictos, Luminas, weapon upgrades, and attribute allocation alongside leveling.

There is no official six-location XP tier list or audited XP-per-hour comparison in the sources reviewed. The official Patch 1.4.0 notes, dated July 30, 2025, describe Battle Retry and other changes but do not say XP rewards changed. PlayStation Blog’s later update announcement establishes new content, not changes to the yields described by the guides. Older route recommendations should therefore be treated as guidance rather than verified current benchmarks.
