Its parkour and replay features also extend to the main game, so the update offers more than a separate map to explore.
1. It adds a Basim story set before the finale
Basim travels to AlUla after hearing that his long-lost father may still be alive. The story takes place before the main game’s final events and brings a second threat into the valley: robbers endangering the region. That timing makes the chapter a detour into Basim’s past rather than a continuation after the ending. Ubisoft’s announcement and its overview describe the new arc.

2. AlUla is divided between stark desert and a living oasis
The new region has two contrasting halves. To the north, the Land of the Dead includes Hegra, carved necropolises, desert and Ramm Valley. To the south, the Land of the Living centers on AlUla Oasis and its town, which Ubisoft describes as lush and commercial. The contrast gives the expansion more than one kind of landscape to move through, from exposed desert terrain to a greener settlement. Ubisoft’s regional overview outlines both areas.
3. The story comes with new targets and missions
Ubisoft lists a main quest, assassination targets, side quests and contracts among the expansion’s additions. That mix gives players story objectives as well as optional work around AlUla; the publisher’s announcement does not establish a mission count or name specific targets. The announcement describes the content categories.

4. Optional activities put familiar systems to new uses
Stolen Goods
In Stolen Goods, Basim steals maps from robbers to recover valuable items. The activity uses stealth and theft as a route to exploration and rewards. Ubisoft’s feature summary and overview explain the activity.
Oud Melodies
Oud Melodies pairs parkour challenges with musical themes that Basim can play in the world. It gives movement challenges a collectible, musical payoff rather than making every side activity about combat or assassination. Ubisoft’s overview describes the activity.

5. Parkour updates also apply in Baghdad
The update adds manually toggled jumps, a new control scheme and more flexible side and back ejects. Ubisoft says these changes apply beyond AlUla, including to the main Baghdad adventure, so they are relevant to players returning to the base game as well as those starting the expansion. They are update features, not a guarantee that every player will prefer the revised controls. Ubisoft’s update notes and Xbox Wire’s feature breakdown describe the parkour changes.

6. Completed missions and contracts can be replayed
After completing black box missions or contracts, players can replay them with optional challenges. Ubisoft gives examples such as avoiding Eagle Vision, killing only the main target, staying undetected or finishing within a time limit. Completing these challenges can unlock in-game rewards. Replay options add goals for players who want to revisit an objective with tighter constraints, rather than simply repeating it unchanged. Ubisoft’s update notes explain the replay system.
7. New skills, tool upgrades and difficulty presets change how you approach the game
The update adds the Engineer 2 skill and a level 3 modification for each tool, expanding Basim’s progression options. Examples of new effects include explosive throwing knives and armor-piercing blowdarts, as described by Xbox Wire’s feature breakdown.

Two difficulty presets also arrive: Hardened Assassin and Ultimate Assassin. Together, the additions offer more ways to tailor both Basim’s equipment and the challenge, though the available sources do not specify the presets’ full numerical effects. Ubisoft’s update notes list the new skill, tool modifications and presets.

Ubisoft describes Valley of Memory as a free major update for owners of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. For an existing save, the expansion is available through the Investigation board once you have finished the game or progressed beyond “The Head of the Snake.” Other start routes depend on where you are in a playthrough:

- New Game+: The quest becomes available after the Caravanserai.
- Direct start: Choose the option from the new-game menu; it includes a recap and an adjusted selection of skills, materials and in-game resources.

How long is Valley of Memory?
Ubisoft’s October 6, 2025 announcement called it “up to six hours” of additional gameplay and story. Its October 22 overview and November 13 access guide later described it as “over six hours” or “more than six hours.” These are the publisher’s preview estimates, not an independent playtime measurement, and the wording changed across its official pages.
