If 7 Days to Die lags in multiplayer on PS5, first check whether PlayStation Network is down, then test your local connection and confirm the session is compatible. 1. Check PlayStation Network status
Before changing your home network, check the PlayStation Network status page for an outage or maintenance. PlayStation recommends this when a PS5 cannot connect to a server. If service is disrupted, wait and try again once it is restored; this check can identify a broader connection issue, but does not diagnose every instance of 7 Days to Die lag. 2. Restart the PS5, modem, and router
Restart the PS5, then power off your modem and router. PlayStation advises leaving the network equipment off for at least five minutes before turning it back on. Once the connection is restored, reopen the game and test multiplayer again. The game’s Basic Network Troubleshooting page also recommends restarting modem/router equipment.
3. Test Wi-Fi placement or Ethernet
If the PS5 is on Wi-Fi, move it closer to the router and try again. If practical, connect it to the router with Ethernet and compare the result. The game’s help center says, “If you are using a wireless connection, try using a wired connection as this is typically more stable.” A cable is only useful here as a way to run that test; wired networking is not a guaranteed cure, and the best setup depends on your home and cable reach. 4. Confirm everyone is on a compatible game version
Check that you and the people you are joining have matching, current game versions. Version differences can prevent multiplayer connections. For a server using mods or a custom world, verify that its required versions and world files also match. 5. Check crossplay server compatibility
If you are joining a crossplay server from console, the game’s help center says Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) must be enabled. The server operator should verify these documented settings:

6. Simplify your friend-session search
If the problem is that a friend’s session does not appear, rather than lag once you are in it, reduce the server-search filters. The game help center recommends using the peer-to-peer tab and searching by SteamID when available; too many filters may hide results. 7. Test without a VPN and update the PS5
If you use a VPN on your network, temporarily turn it off and retry multiplayer as a diagnostic. Also check that the PS5 system software is up to date. These are general checks suggested by the game support center; its Windows-only steps—such as launching as administrator, flushing DNS, or changing game files—do not apply to PS5. 8. Compare sessions, then contact support
If lag continues, note whether it happens in every multiplayer session or only with one host, world, or crossplay server. When possible, compare a different session and a wired connection against Wi-Fi; that can help distinguish a home-network issue from a session-specific one. If the problem persists, submit a request through the 7 Days to Die Help Center and include what you tried, when the lag occurs, and whether joining or playing is the issue. Official guidance does not establish reinstalling, changing DNS, opening ports, or buying a router as proven fixes for this PS5 symptom.

- Cannot connect or everyone is affected: Check PSN status and restart the network equipment.
- Friend’s session does not show up: Simplify the search and verify versions and server compatibility.
- You join but lag in play: Compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet and test another host or world to see whether the issue follows the connection or the session.
