The closest game to Black Myth: Wukong depends on which part you want more of: precise deflects, Chinese myth and history, boss-pattern mastery, or cinematic action. For combat timing, start with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice; for the strongest cultural overlap, try Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. None is an exact substitute: each takes a different route through action combat and progression.
PlayStation describes Black Myth: Wukong as a single-player action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology and based on Journey to the West. Its official page highlights staff techniques, spells, abilities, weapons, equipment, and powerful foes (PlayStation’s official game page). Those ingredients make “similar” a matter of preference rather than a single genre label. The recommendations below are not ranked; each is a better fit for a different reason.

Which game is closest to Black Myth: Wukong combat-wise?
If you mean timing-focused boss fights, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the strongest starting point. If you mean a mythic East Asian setting paired with deflection, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is the more natural pick. Lies of P also rewards careful guard timing, but moves into a very different fairy-tale world. Comparisons of Wukong with these games often use the Soulslike label, but the label alone does not tell you how each one plays. PlayStation calls Wukong an action RPG; it is more useful to compare the combat, setting, and structure directly.

Eight games to try, depending on what you liked
1. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice — for deflects and boss-pattern mastery
Choose Sekiro if learning an opponent’s rhythm and answering attacks with precise deflects sounds more appealing than building around a broad range of equipment. It is a focused single-player shinobi sword adventure with its own traversal and combat identity—not a staff-and-transformation version of Wukong. Its Japanese setting is also distinct from Wukong’s Chinese mythological foundation. The official Wukong page itself lists Sekiro among games like it, and a comparison roundup identifies deflecting as Sekiro’s central combat verb (PlayStation; Gamepressure).

2. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty — for the closest cultural overlap
Wo Long brings together Chinese folklore, Three Kingdoms history, and deflection-based combat, making it the most direct choice here if the setting matters as much as the timing. It differs in its mission structure and gear systems, so expect a related cultural frame rather than a duplicate of Wukong’s journey. A comparison roundup describes those overlaps and differences (Gamepressure).
3. Lies of P — for perfect guards in a Western fairy tale
Lies of P suits players who want boss-focused action and a demanding perfect-guard mechanic, but would welcome a change of setting. Its Belle Époque-inspired world reworks the Pinocchio story, and its weapon-assembly feature gives it a distinct progression hook. It shares a taste for deliberate timing, not Wukong’s mythology or combat identity (Gamepressure).

4. Elden Ring — for a vast world as well as formidable bosses
Pick Elden Ring if you want to decide where to go, explore a much larger world, and shape a character through varied builds alongside taking on difficult enemies. That open-ended scale is the key difference: Wukong is the more focused progression, while Elden Ring makes exploration a major part of the experience. PlayStation includes Elden Ring among games like Wukong; a comparison roundup also contrasts their structures (PlayStation; Gamepressure).

Nioh 2 is a good fit if you want faster, denser weapon combat and supernatural powers, and are willing to learn more interlocking systems. Its yokai transformations and broad weapon selection give it a different feel from Wukong; GamesRadar also points to its ki timing and extensive weapon skill trees. That depth is a draw for players who enjoy mastering systems, but it is not the simplest one-to-one follow-up (Gamepressure; GamesRadar).

- The story, characters, voice acting, gameplay, and music that made the original a sensation return, remade for modern consoles
- This evolutionary leap breathes new life into every cutscene, and rebuilds every corner of the world
- Incredible new graphics bring the wild growth of the jungles, forests, and swamps to life in exquisite detail
- Characters are rendered in fine detail so that facial wrinkles, pores, & separate eye & iris movements are visible, allowing for rich animations
- Any injuries to his actual body will leave their mark permanently, telling a story of each player's unique journey
6. Stellar Blade — for parry rhythm and polished spectacle
Stellar Blade is the combat-feel pick if you want a single-player action game built around precise parry timing and cinematic presentation. Its post-apocalyptic science-fiction setting makes it a poor match for mythology, but a plausible one for players seeking stylish encounters and a demanding rhythm. The cited comparison roundups identify those similarities and the setting difference (Game Rant; Gamepressure).
7. Nine Sols — for demanding precision in 2D
Nine Sols takes mythological action into a very different format: a 2D indie game rather than a large-scale 3D adventure. Consider it if demanding precision and mythic atmosphere matter more than matching Wukong’s perspective, spectacle, or scale. A recommendation roundup presents it as a punishing 2D mythological action option (Game Rant).

- Marvel’s Wolverine is a new action-packed adventure from Insomniac Games
- Play as Wolverine and Ravage enemies with explosive brutality and unleash razor-sharp adamantium claws to deploy fast, fluid attacks and overcome impossible odds
- An Original, Emotionally Charged Story. Beneath Wolverine’s gruff exterior and violent temperament is a man fighting for a cause greater than himself
- A Global, Adrenaline-Fueled Journey where you slice into enemies across detailed locales such as the frosted Canadian Wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the high and low districts of the island nation of Madripoor
8. God of War Ragnarök — for cinematic mythic action
God of War Ragnarök is an adjacent choice for players drawn to mythic subject matter, dramatic presentation, and large encounters. Its Norse myth setting is different from Wukong’s Chinese roots, and the available comparisons support it as a broader spectacle-and-myth recommendation—not as a close mechanical match. PlayStation’s Wukong recommendation carousel lists God of War (2018) among adjacent action-adventure games; that is not, by itself, a detailed comparison of Ragnarök (PlayStation; Game Rant).
