Wilfried Gnonto tops this launch-era FC 25 shortlist with 85 potential. The nine picks range from a 61-rated Chris Rigg, who has substantial room to develop, to more ready-to-use options such as Gnonto and James Trafford. If you’re asking who the best Championship wonderkids are to sign in FC 25 Career Mode, use the rankings below as a starting point—not as a promise of transfer availability or future growth.
Best Championship wonderkids in FC 25, ranked
The figures below are the overall and potential ratings reported in the launch-era roster snapshot used by the source ranking, published on 26 December 2024. The source selected players permanently contracted to Championship clubs and excluded loan players, including Ashley Phillips and Ben Doak. Club names reflect that source snapshot, not a claim about current real-world squads.

FourFourTwo’s guide, last updated 18 October 2024, independently lists the first six players at the same overall/potential values shown here. For Hackney, Eom and Neil, the values come from the exact-title ranking. That ranking’s prose gives Trafford 86 potential, but its summary table says 84; FourFourTwo also lists 84, so 84 is used here.
Who has the highest potential?
Gnonto leads this list at 85 potential. Rigg, Jobe Bellingham, van den Berg, Trafford and Koleosho are each listed at 84; Hackney, Eom and Neil are listed at 83. These are game database figures tied to the October 2024-era FC 25 roster snapshot, not current real-world assessments.

How to choose for your Career Mode squad
Choose by ceiling and development room
For the highest listed ceiling, Gnonto is the pick. Rigg’s 61 overall and 84 potential give him the widest gap between starting rating and listed potential in this shortlist, but that also means he is the least ready on paper at the start. Potential is a base stat, not a guaranteed destination: PCGamesN explains that game time and good performances can influence development.
Choose by position and immediate need
- Wide attack: Gnonto or Koleosho.
- Center-back: van den Berg.
- Goalkeeper: Trafford.
- Midfield: Jobe Bellingham, Hackney, Eom or Neil; Rigg is also a longer-term option.
The ranking is an editorial ordering, not a test proving that one signing performs better than another. Your best choice depends on the position you need, the player’s role in your system, and whether you can give them meaningful playing opportunities. The cited rankings do not establish transfer fees, wages, negotiation difficulty or availability in a particular save, so the ratings alone cannot establish who is affordable or easiest to sign.

Why these ratings can differ in your save
FC 25 roster updates can change in-game players and ratings. These numbers describe the cited launch-era snapshot, not every later database version. If you use a different squad update, check each player’s in-game profile before building a transfer plan; the figures here should be treated as a comparison baseline rather than a guaranteed match to your save.
