What to focus on during a run
The game’s core loop is to fight waves, collect loot, level up, unlock characters, and build upgrades, as described on the official Steam page. Since attacks happen automatically, staying alive and choosing upgrades matter more than standing still to fight.

Keep moving and preserve an exit
Move around enemies rather than letting a wave surround you. Pay attention to where the open space is, and leave unsafe terrain before your route closes in. Movement is not just a way to dodge: it helps you keep options open when the field gets crowded.

Enemies drop XP, which drives level-ups and the build choices that come with them. Sweep up nearby XP when you can do so without trapping yourself or taking an unnecessary risk. A tempting pickup is not worth losing your escape route.

How to choose level-up upgrades
Start with the character’s existing weapon and passive, then choose upgrades that reinforce that direction. Weapons scale differently, so a stat that sounds broadly powerful may not help the weapon you are using. Look for a clear connection between an upgrade and your current setup rather than selecting by its label alone.
Use the game’s weapon-stat information
In a January 25, 2026 Steam announcement, developer vedinad said the Unlocks menu gained a panel showing which stats are upgradable and useful for different weapons. The announcement also says stats can be displayed while viewing the map. Check these in-game tools when you are unsure what supports your build instead of relying on a fixed tier list.
Adjust for survival
If a run is becoming unstable, consider movement, defense, recovery, or collection support instead of stacking only damage. The right choice depends on what is putting the run at risk: whether you cannot escape, are taking too much damage, or are struggling to collect XP safely.

Approach unlocks and challenges deliberately
Unlocks add options, but more options do not automatically make an early run easier. Learn how upgrades fit together before spending progress on every available unlock. This is a practical strategy, not an official rule or a guaranteed optimal route.
Separate ordinary survival runs from restricted challenge attempts. Before starting a challenge, read its exact conditions: a choice that is harmless in a normal run may invalidate that attempt. Use ordinary runs to learn movement and upgrade combinations, then make challenge decisions with the restrictions in view.
Check patch changes before relying on old advice
Balance and interface details can change. In the January 25, 2026 announcement, the developer said pots and vases would give a little luck that scales with the stage, alongside the new weapon-stat information. That update is a reason to check the current game and its official announcements before copying exact stat claims or an older build. Independent beginner guides can help frame basic strategy, but their late-game recommendations and numbers may no longer match the current version.
