Rafael Leão is the clearest all-round pick across the two March 2025 guides, but there is no official or independently tested “best” ranking. The strongest choice depends on which Evolution you plan to use, whether your exact card meets the in-game requirements, and how it fits your squad. This ranked shortlist synthesizes the two guides’ recommendations; it is not a consensus ranking or a claim about current availability.
How this ranking works
The lists published by FUT.GG on March 11, 2025, and Operation Sports on March 13, 2025, cover different routes. FUT.GG recommends players for the free first Evolution and separately names options for the second Evolution. Operation Sports ranks players for completing both linked Evolutions. Rafael Leão is the only name shared across their chain-oriented shortlists, so the order below is an editorial synthesis of source-backed candidates, not a ranking endorsed by either publisher or EA.

The 9 best player options, ranked
-
Rafael Leão — strongest all-round option
Leão appears in both guides’ recommendations: FUT.GG names the Centurions card for the first Evolution and Leão among its second-Evolution picks, while Operation Sports includes him for the full chain. FUT.GG points to his pace and dribbling profile. He is the most consistently supported option across the lists, provided you own an eligible version and can use him in your squad.

-
Adama Traoré — physical, pace-oriented chain choice
Both guides include Traoré in their second-Evolution recommendations, with Operation Sports emphasizing his physical profile and pace-related PlayStyles. FUT.GG’s candidate is the World Tour item. This is a chain-focused option; confirm that your specific item meets the first Evolution’s entry rules before planning a second step.
-
Geyse — a chain pick with agility and PlayStyle appeal
Geyse appears in both guides’ second-Evolution lists. Operation Sports highlights her agility and PlayStyle combination, and FUT.GG also names her among its paid second-Evolution picks. Her value depends on the exact card, your preferred role, and whether the two-step route suits your squad.
-
Myron Boadu — FUT.GG’s first-Evolution chain pick
FUT.GG ranks the TOTW Boadu as its top option for the free first Evolution, citing his potential in an Evolution chain. That makes him worth considering if you own the specific item and intend to build on the upgrade. The recommendation is guide-specific, not evidence that he will outperform the other candidates in matches.
Rank #2
-
Trinity Rodman — consider chemistry and role fit
Operation Sports recommends Rodman for completing both Evolutions and points to her chemistry and role fit. That can matter more than a general shortlist position: compare her links with the players you actually use and check whether the resulting roles fit your formation.

Matheus Cunha — attacking and playmaking option
FUT.GG recommends the TOTW Cunha for Evolution I, highlighting his attacking and playmaking potential. He is a first-Evolution candidate rather than a shared chain recommendation in these lists. Choose him if that profile fills a real need in your team and the card passes the eligibility screen.
-
Marcus Rashford — wide-area scoring and creation
FUT.GG includes Rashford as an Evolution I chain option, citing his potential for scoring and creating from wide areas. The recommendation is most relevant if you want that kind of attacking role; do not treat it as a promise about his final stats or performance.

Asisat Oshoala — pace and strength for Evolution I

-
Liam Delap — an additional full-chain candidate
Operation Sports names Delap among its picks for completing both Evolutions. The guide’s list makes him a chain candidate, but the available evidence does not establish a distinct statistical advantage over the other names here. Check the in-game preview and compare his final role with the alternatives you own.

Which Evolution route should you choose?
Build Your FUT Birthday I
FUT.GG described the first Evolution as a free striker Evolution. Its March 11, 2025 guide reported these entry limits: maximum 88 overall, 86 shooting, three positions, ten PlayStyles, and one PlayStyle+. It also described a CAM position addition, Quick Step PlayStyle+, other PlayStyle and role upgrades, a four-star skill-move increase, and attribute increases subject to caps. The guide’s first-Evolution picks were Boadu, Leão, Cunha, Rashford, and Oshoala.

- Wear & Tear – With the new Wear & Tear system as the hits add up, players wear down. Manage your players’ health, limit fatigue, assess risk of injury, and avoid on field mistakes by using strategic substitutions to ensure your players are at their best when it counts the most.
Build Your FUT Birthday II and the linked chain
FUT.GG described the second Evolution as accepting the Build Your Birthday EVO rarity, with a maximum of ten PlayStyles and two PlayStyles+. It reported further rating and shooting upgrades, role changes, and a weak-foot increase. Its candidates were Leão, TOTW Rodrygo, TOTW Alexander Isak, World Tour Adama Traoré, and TOTW Geyse. Operation Sports’ full-chain shortlist was Geyse, Traoré, Rodman, Leão, and Delap.
Operation Sports reported a cost of 300,000 coins or 1,000 FC Points for Evolution II in its March 13, 2025 guide. That is a historical figure, not a current price. Check the live unlock cost and requirements in your game before deciding whether the second step is worth it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check eligibility and value before applying an Evolution
- Open the Evolution screen and inspect the exact item. Compare the card’s rating, shooting, positions, PlayStyles, and PlayStyle+ count against the requirements shown in game. FUT.GG’s reported limits are a dated guide to Evolution I, not a substitute for the current screen.
- Preview the full route. EA Help explains that players can preview multiple Evolutions together to review resulting stats and eligibility. Check the intermediate card as well as the final result; an upgrade along the way can affect whether a later step is available.
- Compare the finished player with your squad needs. Consider the resulting role, PlayStyle combination, formation, chemistry links, and whether you already own the specific item. A strong shortlist candidate may be a poor choice if it does not fit your team.
- Review the cost and item restrictions before confirming. EA Help says a standard Evolution item becomes untradeable while the upgrade is in progress and cannot be submitted to SBCs during that time. Check the in-game unlock cost and make sure you are comfortable committing the card.
What the FUT Birthday upgrades mean for these picks
EA’s March 6, 2025 campaign announcement said every FUT Birthday player received five-star Skill Moves and five-star Weak Foot upgrades, opening up more ways to use the item in attack. That campaign detail does not establish which Evolution candidate is best for a particular squad; eligibility, the final upgrade path, and your preferred role still decide the choice.
