To reduce lag on Amazon Luna, first check whether your connection stays stable during play, then try Ethernet or improve your Wi-Fi signal, pause other heavy internet use, and check Luna’s device-specific settings. Amazon’s minimum is a sustained 10 Mbps for 1080p streaming; meeting that threshold does not guarantee low latency or smooth gameplay.
Why Luna can lag even when your internet seems fast
Luna runs games on remote servers and streams the resulting audio and video to your device. Your experience therefore depends on both the network connection and the device playing the stream. A speed test can show a fast connection at one moment, but it does not establish that the connection will remain stable while you play.

Amazon’s stated minimum for 1080p is a sustained 10 Mbps. If Luna reports “Network issues detected,” Amazon says the connection may be fluctuating and unable to sustain 10 Mbps consistently. Treat the figure as a minimum requirement, not a guarantee of responsiveness: Amazon says stream resolution, quality, and latency depend on factors including device, location, network, bandwidth, and subscription status, and it may optimize quality to avoid interruptions.
Improve the connection Luna is using
Try Ethernet if your device supports it
Amazon recommends a wired network. If your Luna device has an Ethernet port or supports an appropriate adapter, connect it to the router and compare gameplay. A compatible Ethernet cable is an optional way to make that connection; Amazon does not specify a cable category or claim that wiring resolves every cause of lag.

If you use Wi-Fi, adjust band and distance
For a dual-band router, Amazon’s minimum-requirements guidance recommends trying 5 GHz first. Its troubleshooting guidance also recommends trying a different band if needed and moving closer to the router. Which band works better depends on the home layout and connection, so compare how Luna behaves rather than assuming one band is always best.
When comparing Ethernet and Wi-Fi, consider whether the Luna device can use Ethernet, whether the connection remains stable during play, how strong the Wi-Fi signal is where you play, and whether other household traffic is active. Amazon does not publish a universal latency figure or guarantee for either setup.

Reduce competing traffic and routing problems
- Pause or schedule large downloads, backups, and other bandwidth-heavy activity while playing.
- Close bandwidth-heavy apps on the device running Luna.
- Turn off VPNs and proxies while streaming; Amazon says they can increase latency or block gameplay.
- On iPhone or iPad, use Wi-Fi rather than cellular for Luna.
Check the device and display settings
- Fire TV: Turn on Game Mode in the TV settings.
- Windows PC or Mac using Chrome: Make sure hardware acceleration is enabled in Chrome.
- All supported devices: Use the latest operating system, Luna app, or browser available for the device.
- Mac and Fire Tablet quality issues: Amazon gives turning off Location Services while playing as a targeted workaround for these devices. It is not a general Luna setting for every device.
Tell controller delay apart from stream problems
If the picture is buffering or choppy, or Luna reports a network issue, focus first on the connection and device checks above. If the video looks smooth but controls alone feel delayed, the controller connection may be relevant. This is a practical distinction between stream symptoms and input symptoms, not a formal Amazon diagnostic test.
Amazon lists Cloud Direct, Bluetooth, and USB-C as Luna Controller connection options, and says Cloud Direct reduces latency on listed compatible devices. That guidance concerns controller connectivity; it does not establish that buying a Luna Controller fixes network-related stutter or every kind of lag.

What to expect from troubleshooting
Work through the connection, traffic, and device checks one at a time so you can see which change affects your session. No single speed result or setting guarantees a particular resolution or latency: Amazon says stream quality can be adjusted to avoid interruption, and the cited guidance does not quantify how much any individual fix reduces lag.
