VALORANT Patch 9.04, published by Riot Games on August 27, 2024, introduced Vyse as a new Sentinel, brought Split to console Unrated and Swift Play, and changed PC custom-game tactical timeouts. These are historical patch notes, not a description of the current game version.
Riot’s official VALORANT Patch Notes 9.04, authored by Ashley Tsao, announced Vyse’s staggered regional release beginning August 28, 2024, at 1 PM PT. The update also included platform-specific changes, fixes, and known issues.
What changed in Patch 9.04?

Vyse’s abilities
Vyse is a Sentinel whose kit uses concealed metal devices to blind, trap, slow, damage, and disrupt opponents.
Arc Rose
Place a stealthed Arc Rose, then activate it to blind players looking toward it. Vyse can pick it up and redeploy it.

Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
Shear
Shear is a hidden liquid-metal filament trap. When an enemy crosses it, an indestructible wall rises behind them and dissipates after a brief time.
Razorvine
On landing, Razorvine becomes an invisible nest. Activating it spreads the nest into an area that slows and damages players moving through it.

The cheat now grants full fuel and prevents fuel consumption for Neon’s High Gear, Skye’s Regrowth, and Viper’s Toxic Screen and Poison Cloud.

Behavior evaluations
Riot said it would issue manual behavioral evaluations to players showing a pattern of comms abuse.
Agent, interface, and map fixes
- Fixed an issue that could prevent Skye’s Seekers from consuming ultimate points.
- Fixed Neon’s slide interacting incorrectly with the start-of-round barrier.
- Fixed KAY/O’s Flash/Drive showing a second explosion when thrown behind a wall.
- Fixed spike icons missing from the Combat Report when a player died in a spike explosion.
- Fixed a minimap coverage issue after leaving a nearsight area and a white box appearing for a disconnected player on the scoreboard.
- On Abyss, adjusted several Mid and A Site areas to stop abilities passing through walls, improved the visibility of edge barriers, and addressed an out-of-bounds B Main camping area.
- Fixed Icebox A Main geometry, a Lotus ascender visual issue, and lighting in the Haven new-player tutorial.
PC-specific changes
Premier and Tournament Mode timeouts
In Premier and Tournament Mode custom games, each team can call two tactical timeouts at any time, replacing the previous allowance of one timeout per half. If the match reaches overtime, each team gets one additional timeout.

Combat Report and Premier schedule
The Combat Report’s additional-details panel now opens with M3 instead of Tab+M3. Riot also fixed inconsistent scrolling in the Premier schedule when weeks were collapsed or expanded.
Console-specific changes
Map, agent, and history updates
- Split entered the Unrated and Swift Play queues.
- Sova’s Hunter’s Fury now has reduced spikes in rotation speed after each shot.
- Astra’s Cosmic Divide placement now prioritizes player input.
- A season dropdown was added to Act Rank and Leaderboard pages so players can view prior Act Rank history.
Console fixes
- Fixed weapon swapping on the Traditional control preset and misaligned ability icons when abilities were unbound.
- Fixed incorrect surrender-vote prompts and D-pad or stick inputs changing toggleable settings.
- Fixed missing ranked updates in Match History, leaderboard navigation and display problems, and an incorrect final match in a friend’s career.
- Fixed Combat Report display and reconnect issues.
Known issues listed in Patch 9.04
All platforms
Riot noted that Sova’s Hunter’s Fury did not always play its minimum blind effect when damage landed, and said it would be fixed in 9.05.
Console
Vyse’s damaging abilities displayed incorrectly in the Combat Report. Riot also listed a surrender-vote issue: closing the notification with Circle/B prevented participation and timed out as a no vote. Button icons could also obscure some interface elements while a vote was active.
