Were the acquisition terms or price disclosed?
No. GamesBeat said the terms were not disclosed. The report also noted a prior $4 million seed investment by Arktos in Hammerpoint. That figure refers to earlier funding, not a stated purchase price or valuation for the majority stake.
Why did Arktos acquire the stake?
The report framed the transaction as part of Arktos’s plan to bring development resources together under Hammerpoint. Arktos intended to consolidate its development team, intellectual property, and technology under the Hammerpoint brand, positioning the studio as its core developer for mid-core and hardcore games.

Sergey Titov, identified in the report as Arktos Entertainment’s general partner, described the broader ambition this way: “Our goal is to create an online games factory.” Titov also said the decision to invest further and make Hammerpoint the core developer followed the launch of War Z’s alpha.
What player figures did the report cite?
GamesBeat reported more than 600,000 registered users since The War Z debuted in open beta testing in October, and more than 150,000 daily players, citing Titov for the latter figure. These are historical numbers reported in 2012, not current player counts. The article also said Arktos had spent about 18 months building its online games platform; that, too, was a company-reported figure at the time.

What does the report establish—and what remains unknown?
The contemporaneous GamesBeat article establishes that a majority-stake acquisition was reported, that deal terms were not disclosed, and that Arktos presented Hammerpoint as a central part of its development strategy. It is a news report rather than a transaction filing or located primary announcement. It does not establish the companies’ current ownership or operating status, nor whether The War Z is currently available.
