Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is already on Game Pass, not merely expected to arrive soon. Microsoft announced it on July 23, 2024, with access starting July 24 for Game Pass Console, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate. Ultimate members gained cloud gaming access on October 25, 2024. Catalog availability can change and may vary by region, so check your local catalog before subscribing.
When did Modern Warfare III come to Game Pass?
Microsoft announced the addition on July 23, 2024, and made the game available starting July 24. The announcement named Game Pass Console, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate. Xbox Wire’s announcement has the original availability details.
Cloud gaming access for Game Pass Ultimate members followed on October 25, 2024, as Microsoft announced in a separate Xbox Wire update.
Which Game Pass subscribers can access it?
Activision’s Modern Warfare III Editions FAQ says active Game Pass Console, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can access the standard edition. It also says Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can access the edition through the Microsoft Store.

#1 Best Overall
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III - Cross-Gen Bundle
- Pre-Order and Receive Early access to the Open Beta*
- Some features may require an online subscription
Microsoft’s current surfaced catalog result lists the game as included, but catalog listings can change and may differ by region. Check the Microsoft Store Game Pass catalog for your location before signing up or relying on access.
Should you use Game Pass or buy the game?
The choice depends on how you play and whether you already subscribe. Game Pass gives access through an active subscription; buying the game makes access a purchase rather than something tied to continued subscription eligibility. Check the local catalog and platform listing before deciding, since availability can vary. If cloud play matters, Microsoft’s October 2024 announcement specifically tied it to Game Pass Ultimate.
