Triboulet ranks first for its immediate scoring ceiling, while Perkeo can build the strongest long-run resource engine. A useful order is Triboulet, Perkeo, Canio, Yorick, then Chicot—but there is no universal winner. Your deck, available synergies, and how early you find a Joker can change which one is most valuable.
How to judge Balatro’s Legendary Jokers
The five Legendaries cover different jobs: direct scoring, scaling Mult, Boss Blind defense, and consumable generation. Compare them on four factors: how much they help immediately, whether your deck supports their effect, how many antes remain for the effect to pay off, and whether preventing a Boss Blind effect matters more than adding score.

The ranking below follows Balatro HQ’s guide, published August 1, 2026. It is an editorial ranking, not an official in-game tier list. The Joker effects and Soul acquisition routes are listed in the BalatroGame.com Jokers reference.
All five Legendary Jokers, ranked
1. Triboulet — best when your deck scores Kings and Queens
Played Kings and Queens each give ×2 Mult when scored. That can deliver a substantial scoring payoff as soon as Triboulet joins a deck that reliably plays those ranks. It is less compelling if your hands rarely score Kings or Queens, so its high ceiling depends on the cards and hands your run can support.

2. Perkeo — best early resource engine
At the end of the shop, Perkeo creates a Negative copy of one random consumable you possess. Those extra consumables can compound across later shops, making an early Perkeo especially valuable: it has more time to generate copies and support the run. Its payoff depends on having consumables worth copying, and it is a resource engine rather than a direct scoring Joker.
3. Canio — best with a way to destroy face cards
Canio gains ×1 Mult when a face card is destroyed. It can scale into a scoring asset, but only if the run gives you opportunities to destroy face cards. Without a destruction engine, its growth may be limited.

4. Yorick — best with frequent discards and time to scale
Yorick gains ×1 Mult every 23 cards discarded. Its value builds through discarding, so it needs both discard opportunities and enough of the run remaining to accumulate growth. A late find has less time to scale than an early one.
5. Chicot — Boss Blind insurance
Chicot disables the effect of every Boss Blind. It can protect a run from a particularly troublesome Boss Blind, but it does not provide the direct scoring engine of the Mult-scaling Legendaries. Its value rises when that defensive effect is more important than another source of score.

When should you keep each one?
Balatro HQ’s guide stresses that timing can change the decision: engines found early have more time to compound, while scaling Jokers found late may not grow enough. Use the effect and your run state together rather than treating the ranking as a rule.
- Triboulet: Favor it when your deck can reliably play and score Kings and Queens.
- Perkeo: Favor an early find when you have consumables to copy and time for repeated shop triggers to matter.
- Canio: Favor it when your build can destroy face cards regularly.
- Yorick: Favor it when you can discard often and still have enough run left to accumulate Mult.
- Chicot: Keep it when Boss Blind protection is the need your run cannot otherwise address.
A late-game Triboulet with no reliable Kings or Queens may be less useful than a Chicot that neutralizes the next Boss Blind. Likewise, an early Perkeo can outrank a nominally stronger scorer if its repeated copies materially improve the run. The choice is about fit and remaining time, not rarity alone.

How to find Legendary Jokers
All five are listed as obtainable through The Soul, which can replace a card in a Spectral or Arcana Pack. Balatro HQ estimates a 3-in-1,000 (0.3%) chance per card in either pack for The Soul to replace that card; it estimates roughly a 1.5% chance for a five-card Mega Arcana Pack. These are the guide’s published figures, not independently verified official odds.
