The right N64 adapter depends on which way you want the connection to go. To use an original wired N64 controller on Switch or Windows, the Mayflash MF103 is the most direct match in the manufacturers’ published compatibility details. To use a supported Bluetooth controller on an original N64, choose the 8BitDo Retro Receiver. They are not interchangeable: one connects an N64 pad to a modern device; the other connects a modern controller to an N64.

Use an original wired N64 controller on Switch or Windows
Mayflash MF103
The Mayflash MF103 N64 controller adapter connects up to two original N64 controllers to Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, Switch OLED, or a Windows PC, according to Mayflash. The manufacturer says two MF103 adapters can be used for up to four controllers.
For Windows, Mayflash lists both XInput and DInput modes. The adapter also offers turbo, auto-fire and hold functions, plus a switch to swap the left stick and D-pad. Mayflash’s product page records firmware updates addressing input lag and button behavior, so do not assume every firmware version behaves identically. Check its current instructions and confirm your target system before purchase.

Use a modern Bluetooth controller on an original N64
8BitDo Retro Receiver for N64
The 8BitDo Retro Receiver for N64 plugs into an N64 controller port and pairs with supported Bluetooth controllers. 8BitDo lists support for the Switch 64 Online controller, Switch Pro, Wii U Pro, many 8BitDo controllers, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Elite Series 2 controllers, and DualShock 4, DualSense and DualSense Edge. Compatibility is controller-specific; check the manufacturer’s supported-device information rather than assuming any Bluetooth gamepad will work.
Each receiver connects one controller. 8BitDo’s Retro Receiver FAQ says an original N64 can use up to four receivers—one for each controller port. The receiver supports vibration and memory functions, with modes that can be switched. Ultimate Software button remapping is not supported.

8BitDo also lists wired Windows 10/11 use for the receiver. The FAQ distinguishes this from wireless use with an original N64 and Analogue 3D. Check the FAQ for setup details if you intend to use it with a PC.

8BitDo 64 Bluetooth and 2.4G
8BitDo sells two distinct versions of its 64 controller. The 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth lists compatibility with Analogue 3D, Switch, Switch 2, Windows 10 (1903 or later), and Android 9 or later. Its page lists Hall Effect joysticks and says Switch 2 support requires a firmware update.
The separate 8BitDo 64 2.4G Edition is designed for original N64 and includes a 2.4G adapter. Its compatibility table also lists Analogue 3D and Windows. Check the model edition and applicable firmware notes: the Bluetooth and 2.4G versions serve different connection needs.

Retro-Bit Tribute64 Wireless
The Tribute64 Wireless manual describes a bundle containing a controller, USB-C cable, N64 receiver, USB receiver and manual. It lists the 2.4 GHz N64 receiver for original N64, and the USB receiver for PC, Mac, Steam, PS3, Android and Nintendo Switch. The manual says some consoles may require XInput mode.
Retro-Bit’s manual, dated July 21, 2021, claims 15–20 hours of use with rumble, up to 30 hours without rumble, and wireless range up to 30 ft / 10 m. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified results. The manual warns against connecting a powered Micro USB cable to the N64 receiver. Retro-Bit’s support page distinguishes V1 and V2 units and says their firmware is not interchangeable; identify your revision before installing firmware.

What to check before you buy
- Connection direction: An adapter for an original N64 controller on Switch or PC is different from a receiver for Bluetooth controllers on original N64 hardware.
- Exact platform: Check the named Switch generation or operating system, not just a broad claim such as “Switch compatible.”
- Controller capacity: The MF103 supports up to two original pads per adapter; the 8BitDo Retro Receiver connects one Bluetooth controller per receiver.
- Connection standard: The products here use wired USB, Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz with a dedicated receiver. Those are different setups.
- Features and updates: Look for any mode switches, vibration or memory support, and firmware requirements relevant to your intended use.
