Borderlands 4’s release date moved from September 23 to September 12, 2025—11 calendar days earlier. The revised date applied to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Nintendo Switch 2 was listed for a separate October 3, 2025 release.
What changed in Borderlands 4’s release date?
On February 12, 2025, 2K announced that Borderlands 4 would launch on September 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. On June 16, 2K revised the worldwide date for those platforms to September 12, moving it forward by 11 calendar days.
The official announcements reviewed do not give a reason for the change. They establish the original and revised dates, but do not attribute the move to development progress, another game’s schedule, or any other cause.
Which platforms had the September 12 date?
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store
2K’s launch announcement said the game was available worldwide on these platforms on September 12, 2025. That date did not apply to every platform: the same announcement listed October 3, 2025 for Nintendo Switch 2. These are the dates announced for launch in 2025; check current platform listings for present availability.

What was announced about editions and physical copies?
The official support FAQ, updated June 30, 2026, says the Standard Edition includes the base game. It lists a physical Standard Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with digital Standard Edition versions for all listed platforms. The FAQ describes the Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions as digital-only. It does not establish current prices or retailer stock.
2K’s June 2025 announcement listed launch-era U.S. prices of $69.99 for Standard, $99.99 for Deluxe, and $129.99 for Super Deluxe. Those are historical announcement prices, not confirmation of current pricing.

The support FAQ also describes a GameStop ECHO-4 Bundle containing an ECHO-4 statue, Vault Symbol necklace, Kairos map, four double-sided lithograph art prints, and a SHiFT code for five Golden Keys. The game is not included in that bundle.

In its February 12, 2025 announcement, 2K said the Borderlands franchise had sold in more than 87 million copies. That figure is for the franchise as a whole, not sales of Borderlands 4.
