No. The Nintendo eShop listing reported in late 2024 was for Wukong Sun: Black Legend, a separate 2D action-platform game credited to Global Game Studio—not Game Science’s 3D action RPG Black Myth: Wukong. The names and promotional presentation were described as potentially confusing, but the available reporting does not establish a legal finding or confirm whether the eShop listing is still available today.
What was listed on Nintendo eShop?
Contemporary coverage identified the game as Wukong Sun: Black Legend, credited to Global Game Studio. Nintendo Life reported on January 27, 2025 that it had launched in North America in late 2024 and appeared on European eShops the preceding Friday. The publication described it as a 2D action game and contrasted it with Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong (Nintendo Life, Jan. 27, 2025).
Earlier reports supplied historical listing details. TechNode, citing IThome, reported a $7.99 price, a 338MB download size and a planned December 26, 2024 launch (TechNode, Dec. 23, 2024). Notebookcheck subsequently reported that the game appeared on the US eShop on December 26 at around $8 and characterized it as a basic 2D platformer (Notebookcheck, Dec. 27, 2024). These are reports of what the listing showed then, not current price or availability information.
How it differs from Black Myth: Wukong
| Feature | Wukong Sun: Black Legend | Black Myth: Wukong |
|---|---|---|
| Developer or credit | Credited to Global Game Studio in Nintendo Life’s January 27, 2025 report (source). | Developed by Game Science, according to Nintendo Life (source). |
| Game type and presentation | Reported as a 2D action game or basic side-scrolling platformer (Nintendo Life; Notebookcheck). | A 3D action RPG inspired by the novel Journey to the West, as described by Nintendo Life (source). |
| Reported platform context | Listed on Nintendo eShop in the US and Europe in late 2024, according to contemporary coverage (TechNode; Nintendo Life). | The Nintendo Life article discusses it as a separate 3D title; it does not establish a Nintendo Switch eShop listing for Black Myth: Wukong. |
Why the listing raised concerns
The shared “Wukong” naming and promotional presentation could lead a shopper to mistake one game for the other. Nintendo Life used terms such as “knock-off” and “scam,” while Notebookcheck called the game a knock-off; those are the publications’ characterizations. The reporting cited here does not establish a court or regulator’s finding, nor an official statement from Nintendo or either rights holder about the listing.

How to check a similar eShop listing
- Read the exact title. Wukong Sun: Black Legend is not the same title as Black Myth: Wukong.
- Check developer and publisher credits. The listing covered by Nintendo Life credited Global Game Studio; the 3D game was developed by Game Science.
- Compare gameplay footage and screenshots. The reported listing was for a 2D game, unlike the 3D action RPG presentation of Black Myth: Wukong.
- Verify the platform and date. A historical article about an eShop page does not prove that the page, price or regional availability is current. Check the live store listing for the region and date that matter to you.
Is Wukong Sun: Black Legend still on the eShop?
The cited reports establish appearances and launch information from late 2024 and January 2025, but do not verify whether the game remains listed now, what it currently costs, or which regions can access it. They also do not establish a later statement from Nintendo or Game Science. Treat any old price or availability detail as historical unless a current regional eShop page confirms it.
