Some Battlefield 6 players criticized launch-era challenges as too demanding or poorly matched to the way weapons and modes are normally played. EA later streamlined challenge criteria and continued fixing progression and tracking issues, but that does not prove every challenge problem was solved—or that players broadly agreed they were too hard.
Why some launch challenges drew complaints
Launch-era criticism centered on requirements that appeared to push players away from a weapon’s usual role, demanded a large number of kills in a single round, or tied progress to a particular mode. Windows Central reported examples including an LMG challenge requiring 10,000 hip-fire damage and Unit challenges calling for 30 or 35 objective kills in one round. It also reported that some players could not advance class gadget unlock challenges because progress failed to track. These were reported examples, not a description of every challenge or of the game’s current criteria. Windows Central’s launch-era report
There is a practical difference between a hard challenge and a broken or misleading one. In its known-issues list for launch build 1.0.1.0, EA documented Supply Pouch resupply, vehicle repair, and vehicle supply crate challenges that did not track. It also noted that the Weapon Expert Unit Challenge description said to get a kill with each weapon type, while the actual requirement was 15 longshot kills in one match. That mismatch could make a challenge seem unreasonable when the problem was its description. EA’s 1.0.1.0 known-issues post
What EA changed
In its February 10, 2026 Season 2 community update, EA said it had streamlined challenges by reducing emphasis on highly mode-specific tasks, removed the daily sidearm challenge from the regular rotation, and broadened some daily criteria so assists could count. EA said it would monitor completion rates and adjust requirements it considered too restrictive: “We’ll continue to closely monitor completion rates and adjust challenge criteria where they feel too restrictive.” EA’s Season 2 community update

EA’s April 2, 2026 Nightfall debrief described further changes since Season 2 began: more challenge streamlining, faster Battle Pass progression through XP, lower Mastery XP requirements, and improvements to challenges, tracking, and end-of-round progression reliability. These are statements about ongoing updates, not a guarantee that every future or existing progression issue is resolved. EA’s Nightfall debrief
Progression fixes continued in later patch notes
Update 1.2.2.0 listed changes to challenge rerolls, mismatches between written and in-game requirements for several daily and weekly challenges, rocket-launcher damage tracking, and other progression calculations. EA also described the revised XP curve as “about twice as fast in the early ranks and 15% faster in total.” That is EA’s characterization of the XP curve, not an independent measurement of time saved by players. How to judge whether a challenge is unfair or just demanding
Before writing off a requirement as excessive, check what kind of friction it creates. A high target in one match is different from the same target accumulated over time; a mode-specific task differs from one that can be completed in several modes. Also check whether the action fits the weapon or class, whether the description matches the in-game requirement, whether progress is registering, and whether the reward gates useful gear or is optional. These distinctions help separate challenge tuning from tracking or documentation defects.
- Mode or playstyle lock: Does the task require a particular mode or playstyle, or can you make progress naturally in several kinds of matches?
- Role fit: Does the task suit the weapon or class, or require an unusual use of it?
- Target scope: Is the requirement cumulative, or must you reach it in one round?
- Accuracy and tracking: Do the written criteria match the in-game criteria, and does the counter advance when you perform the action?
- Reward stakes: Does it unlock functional gear, or is it an optional cosmetic or progression reward?
“Players agree” overstates what the evidence shows
Launch coverage and community discussions document visible complaints, including players describing challenges as a chore or as too much grinding. They do not establish that most Battlefield 6 players—or players universally—thought the challenges were too hard. No representative poll or population-wide statistic is available in the cited material. Community reactions to reduced requirements were also mixed: some welcomed the changes, while others felt challenges had become too easy. A Reddit discussion of the challenge changes

The fairest conclusion is narrower: some launch challenges drew criticism for their requirements, while tracking failures and inaccurate descriptions made parts of progression harder to understand or complete. EA later adjusted criteria and continued to document fixes; the patch history shows active maintenance, not a blanket resolution of every possible problem.
