The “Pass the Bug” puzzle covered here is on Zhailing Islet in Jingyu Valley, Wuling. Chase the out-of-position lankybeast onto the lotus leaf directly before the animal on its right, then pat the bug-spitting lankybeast to send the glowbug along the chain to the chest.
Where to find the puzzle
Travel to Zhailing Islet in Jingyu Valley, Wuling. The walkthrough for this particular instance describes four lankybeasts arranged around lotus leaves. Other Pass the Bug puzzles may have different layouts.
How to solve Pass the Bug
- Find the out-of-position lankybeast. Move behind it and chase it until it reaches the lotus leaf directly before the lankybeast on the right.
- Check the arrangement. The animals should face one another, with a clear path for the glowbug across the lotus leaves.
- Start the pass. Pat the bug-spitting lankybeast on the right. The glowbug should pass through the animal you moved and the next lankybeast, then reach the last one beside the chest.
- Collect the chest. Walk across the lotus leaves to reach it.
If the glowbug does not reach the final lankybeast, check the moved animal’s position and the path between the animals before patting the bug-spitting one again. The general puzzle mechanic also involves positioning lankybeasts, watching how the lotus leaves move, and patting the glowbug-spitting animal at the right time.

Game8 describes a Wuling medal called “Swat the Lanky and Pass the Bug,” which requires completing six glowbug-passing challenges in Jingyu Valley and Wuling City. Solving this one puzzle is not, by itself, evidence that the six-challenge condition is complete.
