What is confirmed about a Dark Souls III remaster?
As of October 8, 2026, the official Bandai Namco and FromSoftware pages reviewed do not announce a Dark Souls III remaster. Bandai Namco identifies Dark Souls III as a FromSoftware-developed game directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and lists PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. FromSoftware gives its domestic release date as March 24, 2016, and lists PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. Bandai Namco’s official Dark Souls III page and FromSoftware’s series announcement provide those established details.

What are the rumors actually claiming?
Alleged Dark Souls trilogy remake
On May 4, 2026, iXBT Games reported that YouTube creator Shirrako had relayed a claim from a source he described as reliable: a remake of the Dark Souls trilogy was allegedly in development. The report said the developer was unknown. It is an attributed rumor, not confirmation from FromSoftware or Bandai Namco. It describes a trilogy remake, which is not the same claim as a confirmed Dark Souls III remaster. Read iXBT Games’ report.

Anonymous-source FMC project
GamesRadar summarized a separate MP1st report about an anonymous-source FromSoftware project codenamed FMC, said to be in advanced development. Fans speculated that it might be a Dark Souls III remaster, among other possibilities. The reporting does not identify FMC as a Dark Souls project, so that connection remains fan speculation rather than a confirmed project description. Read GamesRadar’s summary.
What can you play while you wait?
Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition is the existing complete edition, not a remaster. Bandai Namco says it includes the base game and both DLC chapters: Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City. The Dark Souls III page identifies The Ringed City as the final DLC pack. The publisher’s Dark Souls Trilogy collection is a three-disc PlayStation 4 set containing Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, and Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition, with associated DLC and a steelbook. Bandai Namco’s trilogy page lists that collection.

Does Dark Souls Remastered mean Dark Souls III is getting one?
No. Dark Souls Remastered is a distinct 2018 update of the original Dark Souls, not a remaster of Dark Souls III. In its January 12, 2018 announcement, FromSoftware described updated graphics and enhanced online functions and said the Artorias of the Abyss DLC was included. The release statement explicitly calls it “the remastered version of the original Dark Souls which was released and highly acclaimed back in 2011.” That precedent does not confirm a Dark Souls III remaster. Read FromSoftware and Bandai Namco’s 2018 announcement.
