When did DOOM: The Dark Ages release, and where can you play it?
Bethesda Support states: “DOOM: The Dark Ages launches May 15, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox App for Windows PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5.” The date has passed; this is a released game, not an upcoming 2025 title. Bethesda Support’s release-date answer lists those platforms.

What kind of DOOM game is it?
PlayStation describes DOOM: The Dark Ages as a single-player action FPS and a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. Its dark-fantasy and science-fiction setting puts the Slayer in a medieval-inspired conflict. The official PlayStation page highlights the Shield Saw, returning weapons such as the Super Shotgun, customizable difficulty and large levels. Its description of the levels as the series’ “largest and most expansive” is publisher language, not an independently verified comparison. PlayStation’s official game page lists the game and its features.
Which edition or way to play should you choose?
Buy the base game or get subscription access
The Standard Edition is the base game. Xbox also lists a Premium Edition, which includes the game, Revelations DLC, a Digital Artbook and Soundtrack, and the Divinity Skin Pack. Its Premium Upgrade is for Game Pass members and Standard Edition owners, but the upgrade does not include the base game; you need the game separately or eligible subscription access. Check the current store listing for edition contents and prices, which can change. Xbox’s official game page describes the editions and upgrade.

Play locally or stream
Bethesda lists xCloud, GeForce NOW and Boosteroid as access options in addition to the game’s PC and console platforms. xCloud requires Game Pass Ultimate. Streaming catalogs, terms and regional availability can change, so confirm that the game is currently offered where you live before subscribing or relying on a service. Bethesda’s FAQ covers access options.
Check whether your PC is ready
Bethesda’s May 2025 PC checklist says a hardware ray-tracing-compatible GPU is required, including for the minimum specifications, and recommends at least 100GB of available storage before downloading. These are not enough on their own to confirm how well the game will run on a particular system: check the current requirements, your GPU’s ray-tracing support and current drivers before buying or upgrading hardware. Does the DOOM Anthology include the game?
Bethesda says an updated DOOM Anthology for Steam, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 has included DOOM: The Dark Ages Premium Edition since September 14, 2026. Older Xbox One and PS4 Anthology bundles were delisted, and people who already bought those bundles do not automatically receive the new game through the update. Check which platform and version of the bundle you are considering. Bethesda’s Anthology update explains the change.

No. Xbox’s official page names an Xbox Wireless Controller – DOOM: The Dark Ages Limited Edition as an optional accessory; it is not required to play. That page does not establish current stock or an Amazon listing. Xbox’s game page identifies the controller.
