Discord reported that Quests completed more than 70 campaigns and delivered millions of rewards during its first year. Those are figures from the company’s March 31, 2025 announcement—not an independently audited count or a current lifetime total. Quests are Discord’s rewarded-ad format: players can complete game-related actions or engage with campaign videos to earn rewards.
What Discord reported for Quests’ first year
In a March 31, 2025 announcement, Discord executive Peter Sellis wrote: “In our first year we successfully completed 70+ campaigns and users earned millions of rewards.” The milestone covers Quests’ first year as described in that announcement; it should not be read as a total through today. Discord’s later materials describe hundreds of campaigns, reflecting activity after the first-year period.

The announcement also put the campaign figures in the context of Discord’s gaming audience. Discord said it had more than 200 million monthly active users and that people played across more than 8,000 PC titles for 1.5 billion hours per month. These are company-reported figures, not independent measurements. Discord’s first-year announcement provides the milestone and its campaign examples.
How Discord Quests work
Discord describes Quests as a rewarded advertising format designed to connect advertisers and game developers with players. In a campaign, a user completes a requested activity and can earn a reward. Discord’s materials describe two formats:

Discord’s business newsletter described a mobile Video Quest pilot planned for June 2025; that announcement establishes a planned pilot, not the present availability of the format in every region or account. Discord’s business newsletter covers that product update.
Games and entertainment campaigns in the first year
The first-year announcement named campaigns connected to Diablo, Street Fighter, World of Warcraft, Genshin Impact, and Max’s Dune: Prophecy. The examples show that Quests were used both to promote games and to bring entertainment video to Discord users.

Genshin Impact: a Play Quest
Discord said miHoYo ran a Play Quest around a major Genshin Impact update. The company reported millions of participants and an 80% increase in playtime during the campaign week. That is Discord’s account of the campaign; the announcement does not establish that the Quest alone caused the increase.
Dune: Prophecy: a Video Quest
For Max’s Dune: Prophecy, Discord described a Video Quest featuring a trailer. It reported that 85% of users who interacted with the request completed the trailer. This is a result for that campaign and participant group, not a general completion benchmark for Discord advertising.

What the reported performance figures do—and do not—show
Discord’s figures offer examples of campaign activity and outcomes, but they are company-reported results. They should be kept tied to their stated periods and populations rather than treated as independent proof of typical campaign performance.
- Repeat engagement: Discord said users who accepted a targeted Quest were three times as likely to accept another Quest. The announcement did not provide detailed methodology for this comparison.
- Partner returns: More than half of Quests partners had returned for a second campaign by the March 2025 first-year announcement.
- Early campaign results: In an October 2024 update, Discord reported a 16% lift in average playtime and a 9% lift in average player counts across early campaigns. Those are platform-reported early results, not guaranteed outcomes for a new campaign.
- Later completion figure: Discord’s August 2026 announcement cited a 96% median ad completion rate based on its internal data dated March 31, 2026. This later figure is not the first-year Dune: Prophecy result and should not be conflated with it.
For advertisers, these numbers are useful as Discord’s own case reporting, but a campaign decision should also account for the objective, audience, user action, reward, and measurement method. Discord’s October 2024 product update is available at Discord’s Quests early-results announcement.

What changed after the first-year milestone
The 70-plus campaign figure is a historical snapshot from March 2025. Later announcements describe continued product development and additional campaigns, so it is not a present-day total. Discord has also discussed Orbs, virtual rewards redeemable for items in its Shop, and identified Kantar as a measurement partner. Those developments are part of Quests’ product evolution; they do not change what the company counted for the first year.
