Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) has no Zombies mode and no standalone Survival mode. It does include a survival-style wave-defense mission in Special Ops. The 2009 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a different game and does have Survival content.
What modes are in Modern Warfare II (2022)?
Activision lists three modes for the 2022 game: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Special Ops. Zombies is not part of that official lineup. Activision’s game page describes the available modes.
There is also no separately listed Survival mode. However, one Special Ops mission offers wave-based defense, so the game does have survival-style play within that mode.
What is Defender: Mt. Zaya?
Defender: Mt. Zaya is a Special Ops mission in which players defend an observatory from increasingly difficult waves of enemies trying to detonate bombs. In Activision’s October 18, 2022 launch overview, the mission is described as “A love letter to fans of survival modes.” Read Activision’s launch overview.

That makes Defender: Mt. Zaya a wave-defense mission with survival-style gameplay—not a standalone Survival mode or a Zombies mode.
Why do some players remember Survival in Modern Warfare 2?
The title is easy to mix up because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) are separate games. Activision’s franchise history says the 2009 game’s Special Ops was “reinvented with an all-new Survival mode,” where players fought waves of enemies and upgraded their arsenals. Activision’s franchise history is referring to the 2009 title, not the 2022 one.

Which game does “MW2” mean?
If you mean the 2022 release, look for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II; its worldwide release date was October 28, 2022, according to Activision’s editions FAQ. If you mean the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2, that is the game with Survival in Special Ops. Checking the full title and release year avoids confusing their mode lineups.
