On the C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer datasheet in the official Necrons faction pack, the model also has Feel No Pain 5+, which is a separate ability that can ignore wounds when its roll succeeds.
What Necrodermis does
The Nightbringer’s Necrodermis rule says: “Each time an attack is allocated to this model, subtract 1 from the Damage characteristic of that attack.” The official Necrons faction pack lists the rule on the C’tan Shard of the Nightbringer datasheet.

That changes how much damage the attack inflicts; it is not a saving throw or a Feel No Pain roll. Damage is the number of wounds a model loses when it suffers that damage, according to the 10th-edition Core Rules.
How Necrodermis and Feel No Pain work together
- Allocate an attack to the Nightbringer. Apply Necrodermis by subtracting 1 from that attack’s Damage characteristic, as the datasheet specifies.
- Resolve the attack’s saving throw and determine any damage that gets through.
- For each wound the Nightbringer would lose, use its separate Feel No Pain 5+ ability. A successful roll means that wound is ignored.
For example, if an allocated attack has Damage 3, Necrodermis reduces that characteristic by 1 before determining the damage suffered. Feel No Pain is then rolled for the wounds the model would lose from the damage that gets through; it does not reduce the Damage characteristic again.

Does this apply to mortal wounds?
The official Rules Commentary says mortal wounds cannot be stopped by saving throws, but rules that let a model ignore wounds, such as Feel No Pain, can still be used. Necrodermis should not be treated as a general-purpose wound-ignore rule; resolve a particular effect using its current wording.
