A spare Vernworth Gaol Key and copies of rare grimoires can also help, but forgeries are not always usable copies—some are renamed imitations that lose the original item’s function.
How the Forger works
Ibrahim runs the Scrap Store in Checkpoint Rest Town, on the Vermund side of the border. You hand him an item and pay a fabrication cost; the result is ready after in-game time passes. Guides differ on the general wait, describing roughly a day to one or two days, while the Jadeite Orb guide estimates about two days for that specific forgery. The exact wait can vary by item or guide, so check the request in-game.

Do not assume a forgery behaves like its source. A copy may resemble the original but have a joke name and no original use. Windows Central gives Towering Earth as an example: its imitation is called “Lowering Earth” and cannot serve as the spell tome. Weapons, armor, and rings are also reported as items that cannot be duplicated. Check the copied item’s exact name and intended use before handing it to an NPC or relying on it.
Best items to duplicate
Jadeite Orb: best for two quest rewards
For the clearest reward-maximizing use, buy the Jadeite Orb from Ibrahim and have him forge a copy. Windows Central reports a 7,500 Gold purchase price for the orb and a 2,000 Gold forgery fee. Give the fake to Offulve and the genuine orb to Everard; Everard’s authenticity check makes the real item important for his hand-in. The guide reports that the split delivery yields 15,000 Gold in combined rewards, a Ring of Skullduggery, and an Elite Camping Kit.

This route has a consequence as well as a cost: Offulve may be blamed after presenting the fake. Consider whether the additional rewards are worth that outcome, the forgery fee, and the wait of about two in-game days reported for this request. These are guide-reported in-game figures, not guaranteed outcomes across every game version.
Vernworth Gaol Key: a spare if you need one later
The special Vernworth Gaol Key obtained during “The Caged Magistrate” is a candidate when you want to keep access to the prison after the quest. Twinfinite reports that the original key is unlimited-use but must be returned at the end of the quest, and that a forged copy works the same way. Its value depends on your quest state and whether you expect to need a continuing key; confirm the item’s behavior in your current game before paying for a copy.

Rare grimoires: copies for Myrddin, originals for other choices
If you want to preserve scarce originals for other quest outcomes, Twinfinite recommends forging these five grimoires and giving the copies to Myrddin:
- Fulminous Shield
- Howling Blizzard
- Nation’s Death Knell
- Towering Earth
- Let There Be Light
Use this approach to separate what you submit from what you keep, not to create extra spellcasting books. A counterfeit can lose its original function; Towering Earth, for example, may become the unusable “Lowering Earth.” Inspect each result before deciding what to hand over.

Which item should you choose?

For any other candidate, weigh its quest-reward upside against whether the copy remains functional, how difficult the original is to replace, the fee and waiting time, and whether the recipient checks authenticity. The Jadeite Orb is the strongest documented choice when maximizing a specific quest’s rewards is the goal; the key and grimoires are conditional tools, not universally better targets.
What is known—and what may vary
These recommendations come from game guides published between 2024 and 2026, not a complete official list of every valid item or cost. The item-list wiki describes its own forgery list as incomplete, and Capcom’s accessed support material does not provide forgery-specific instructions. Patches may change item behavior, so verify an uncertain interaction in the current version of the game.
