There is no confirmed universal cause or guaranteed fix. Start with low-risk checks, compare your PC with EA’s published requirements, and protect your saves before deleting any game files.
First, note when the game closes
The timing helps narrow down which checks are relevant. Write down whether FC 25 closes during startup, after reaching the menu, when entering a match, or after playing for a while. Also note whether an error appears and whether the EA app closes too. If the game closes without an error message, record that as well.
These details are useful if you need to contact EA support; they do not, by themselves, identify the cause.
Check that your PC meets FC 25’s requirements
EA lists these Windows PC requirements for FC 25. Meeting them is a compatibility target, not proof that a PC will run without crashes or that falling short caused a particular close. Check your processor, memory, graphics card, Windows edition, available storage, and internet connection before considering hardware changes. EA’s FC 25 PC requirements are the reference.

Try EA’s lower-risk crash checks
Close background applications
Close other running apps and try launching FC 25 again. EA recommends this as a general PC crash and freeze check; it is not a confirmed fix for every FC 25 closing issue.
Use a clean boot to test for background interference
If closing apps does not help, EA recommends trying a clean boot to disable background tasks and check whether one is interfering with the game. Follow EA’s PC crashing and freezing guidance for the procedure, then test FC 25. A clean boot is a diagnostic check, not a reason to permanently disable services you need.

Repair FC 25 files in the EA app
Use the repair option for FC 25 in the EA app to check its installed game files. EA includes repairing game files among its general crash and freeze steps. If the game still closes, EA’s guidance lists reinstalling the game and EA app as a later step.
Try a frame-rate cap or V-Sync
EA also suggests capping the frame rate or enabling V-Sync as general crash troubleshooting. Try one setting at a time and check whether the closing behavior changes; EA does not identify either setting as a guaranteed cure for this specific symptom.

Use DirectX troubleshooting only when it fits
If an error points to DirectX or the EA app, check for pending Windows updates and follow EA’s instructions for installing Microsoft’s DirectX End-User Runtime, which can provide missing libraries the EA app needs. This is a targeted check for relevant DirectX or EA app problems, not a blanket explanation for FC 25 closing unexpectedly. See EA’s DirectX and EA app troubleshooting guidance.
Be cautious before deleting FC files
EA provides an in-game route for deleting selected files: Customize > Profile > Delete. Do not delete the whole folder or remove files indiscriminately. EA says not to delete Online Profiles or files with “Career” in the name: Career saves will not be downloaded again and cannot be restored.

EA notes that deleting “Personal Settings 1” can help with some audio or visual problems, but it also removes Skill Game progress and a custom controller layout. Players have reported different circumstances, including a case where the game reportedly closed upon entering a match while menus worked. That forum report is an individual account, not confirmation of a general cause or fix: EA forum report: game closes when entering a match.
