The Sentient Pest Everdark Sovereign raid adds a third target to the Gnoster and Faurtis fight: Animus, Ascendant Light. Focus on one pest during the opening, then switch your attention to Animus when it appears. Fire is the key weakness reported for the pests, while their revivals and Animus’s possession attempts provide attack windows.
How the Sentient Pest Everdark raid differs from the standard fight
The standard Gnoster, Wisdom of Night encounter pairs Gnoster, the moth, with Faurtis, the scorpion. The Everdark Sovereign version starts with the pair sharing an initial health bar. Once it is depleted, Animus, Ascendant Light appears and revives both pests at reduced health. That transition changes your priority: while both pests are alive, Animus is the objective, but you cannot target it. Defeating Animus ends the encounter and kills the pests. Don’t assume that standard-fight advice about handling the moth and scorpion applies unchanged after the transition.

1. Opening: deal with Gnoster and Faurtis
Attack the pest your team can damage most reliably, rather than splitting damage between the moth and scorpion without a reason. The scorpion signals its stampede target before charging, so watch for the tell and be ready to evade if it marks you.

2. Transition: Animus revives the pests
When the shared opening bar is depleted, Animus appears and restores both pests at a fraction of their health. The pair then act independently. While they are alive, focus on them as necessary to reach Animus; hit either pest during its stationary revival, when it is vulnerable.
3. Finish Animus
Once you can target Animus, make it the priority. The specialist wiki reports that Animus has no resistances and can be struck briefly while attempting to possess a corpse. Depleting its health ends the fight.
The same page reports that if Animus stays apart from both pests for 55 seconds, it performs an ultimate: projectiles rise into the air before red laser beams strike the team. It is reportedly vulnerable during this move. Treat the timing and details as wiki-reported rather than guaranteed current behavior, since they may change with patches.
Sentient Pest weaknesses: fire and useful openings
The Everdark page says Gnoster and Faurtis share weaknesses and resistances during this encounter, and recommends fire. The standard encounter page also reports that both pests are weak to fire; applying fire to Gnoster causes burn damage over time for 15 seconds. Fire is a useful choice when available, but Nightreign expeditions require finding equipment during the run, so you may not be able to plan a specific weapon in advance.

Other mechanics described for the standard Gnoster and Faurtis encounter should not automatically be treated as Everdark-specific:
- Faurtis hardening: The standard-fight strategy says this state greatly reduces incoming damage and roots the scorpion in place.
- Parasite egg: In the standard fight, another player can attack the affected player to remove the egg, or that player can consume a Neutralizing Bolus before it hatches.
- Crushing weapons: The standard strategy notes Raider can exploit Faurtis’s weakness to crushing weapons.

Yes. Bandai Namco’s official FAQ says Nightreign can be played offline solo. The same publisher lists the game for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and gives May 30, 2025 as its release date. The official product page describes the main expedition as a three-Nightfarer hunt.
