When did Dragon Age: The Veilguard launch?
EA first announced a fall 2024 release window on June 9, then confirmed the worldwide launch date as October 31, 2024. EA’s launch-day announcement confirmed the game was available that day. The original seasonal window is therefore superseded by the specific release date.
At launch, EA listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with PC availability through Steam, the EA app, and Epic Games Store. EA’s product page lists its current platform and storefront options; check the relevant storefront for present availability.
Who are the seven companions?
Rook is the customizable protagonist tasked with uniting the crew. EA names seven companions, each with an individual storyline and motivation, as well as distinct combat abilities and equipment:

EA describes the companions as coming from factions in the world of Dragon Age. The announcement does not provide enough detail to assign each character a faction or give a reliable individual biography, so those specifics are not included here.
Why companion quests matter
In its launch-day guide, the Dragon Age team recommends pursuing companion quests and side content because they directly affect how later stages of the game unfold. Exploration opens after the prologue, and the guide also encourages players to explore regions and seek out side quests and loot. If you want to see how the story’s later stages respond to your play, companion quests are more than optional diversions.

What else launched alongside the game?
EA’s 2024 announcement also named separate physical products: The Art of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, a 256-page behind-the-scenes art book, plus Rook’s Coffer and the Vyrantium Pack, which includes a SteelBook case and other items. EA said the bundles do not include the game. That announcement does not establish current stock or retailer availability.
EA’s launch announcement said the official soundtrack, co-composed by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe, was released November 1, 2024, through Lakeshore Records. It does not establish physical soundtrack availability.
