EB Games Canada opened a second round of PlayStation 5 pre-orders online and in stores on September 25, 2020. Its online console allocation was sold out by 1:01 p.m. ET that day, according to MobileSyrup’s contemporaneous report. This is a report of a 2020 event, not confirmation of current availability.
When did EB Games Canada reopen PS5 pre-orders?
The second round began on Friday, September 25, 2020. EB Games Canada announced that pre-orders were available both online and in stores. Walmart Canada was also offering another round that morning, MobileSyrup reported.
What were the reported Canadian prices?
| PS5 edition | Reported preorder price in September 2020 |
|---|---|
| Disc-based PlayStation 5 | $629 CAD |
| PlayStation 5 Digital Edition | $499 CAD |
These prices were reported for that specific 2020 preorder round; they are not current prices. The report names the two editions and their prices but does not provide enough specification detail for a broader comparison.
How quickly did EB Games’ online pre-orders sell out?
At 1:01 p.m. ET on September 25, MobileSyrup updated its report to say EB Games had announced that all online PS5 console units were sold and web pre-orders were closed for the time being. The update does not establish how long in-store reservations remained available.

MobileSyrup reproduced EB Games Canada’s post announcing the round: “The second round of Playstation 5 pre-orders is available now in-store and online!” It also reproduced the retailer’s sellout update: “Thank you to everyone who has visited us and placed a pre-order for the PS5. All online PS5 console units are now sold, so web pre-orders for the PS5 console are closed for the time being. Please continue to visit us for any further updates.” Both posts were attributed to EB Games Canada on September 25, 2020.
Does this mean a PS5 can be pre-ordered from EB Games now?
No current availability follows from the 2020 announcement. EB Games Canada’s PS5 category and pre-order category are retailer pages, but their existence does not establish that a console is currently available to pre-order. Check the live listing for current stock and price before relying on it.
