To complete Explore The Hollow Halls in Enshrouded, accept it from the Alchemist after completing Growing Stronger Together and Carpentry Assistance and reaching level 8. Enter the Springlands Hollow Halls in the southwest of the map, work through the dungeon, rescue Alden Crowley, then place him at your home with a Summoning Staff.

The Alchemist gives Explore The Hollow Halls. The quest listing requires both prerequisite quests and character level 8 before it becomes available. See the quest objectives and requirements.

- Speak with the Alchemist and accept Explore The Hollow Halls.
Find the Springlands Hollow Halls
Travel to the southwest corner of the Springlands map to find the first Hollow Halls. Reaching the entrance completes only the first objective; the quest then asks you to descend into the dungeon. The Springlands Hollow Halls reference identifies its location.
Prepare for the descent
The Hollow Halls are described as challenging and suggested for group play, but a well-geared character can complete them solo. The Alchemist’s dialogue, reproduced on the Alchemist (Balthazar) page, advises: “Maybe you can. Best assemble a team if you have one to descend!” There is no established minimum level beyond the quest’s level 8 unlock requirement, or a published gear-score threshold.

A secondary walkthrough recommends bringing healing items and food, plus a pickaxe, felling axe or explosives, Grappling Hook, and Glider. Leave some inventory space, inspect side rooms and elevated ledges, and deal with ranged enemies before closing in. Treat these as practical guide suggestions rather than mandatory quest requirements. The walkthrough is available from Enshrouded Companion.
Get through the Hollow Halls
Open rune barriers
Each barrier shows how many runes it needs. Look for runes in the area before the door and run over them to collect them. Other runes are carried by enemies marked with a rune symbol; defeat the marked enemy to obtain one. If the barrier remains closed, search the preceding chamber and side areas before assuming you need a key. The Hollow Halls mechanics reference describes these rune requirements.
Destroy Reanimators quickly
Reanimators are bone piles that continue spawning Hollow enemies while they remain active. Prioritize destroying them; explosives or axes are suggested methods. Clearing a Reanimator can prevent its ongoing reinforcements from compounding the fight.
Avoid Toxic Slime
Toxic Slime applies the Slimy debuff, which deals poison damage, slows movement, and drains stamina. Jump across it where possible instead of standing in it. The Hollow Halls reference also says Toxic Slime can be mined with a pickaxe.
Rescue the Collector and finish the objective
Continue through the dungeon until you find the survivor at the end. The survivor is Alden Crowley, the Collector. Finding him does not by itself complete the final listed objective: the quest text says, “You’ve discovered a new survivor in the Hollow Halls. Place them in your home with a summoning staff to proceed.”
- Rescue Alden Crowley in the Springlands Hollow Halls.
- Return to your home.
- Use a Summoning Staff to place the Collector there.
The quest listing names the Collector and 1,000 XP as rewards. Once placed, the Collector can offer further Hollow Halls quests and crafting progression, including the Ectoplasm Press. Those later quests and dungeons are not part of completing Explore The Hollow Halls.

- A rune barrier is still closed: check the displayed rune tally, search the area before the barrier, and defeat any rune-marked enemy.
- You found the survivor, but the quest is incomplete: return home and place the Collector with a Summoning Staff; discovery alone does not satisfy the final objective.
