How to build a Strength/Faith character
There is no single stat spread that suits every level, weapon, or playstyle. The practical tradeoff is that Strength supports melee damage and helps the Clawmark Seal, while Faith supports Faith-scaling weapons and stronger dedicated incantation casting. Prioritize survivability and your chosen weapon’s requirements before aiming for a particular damage-stat target.

Choose a seal for your stat split
The Clawmark Seal scales incantations with both Strength and Faith and boosts Bestial incantations, making it a sensible option when Strength investment is substantial. If Faith becomes your dominant casting stat, the Erdtree Seal is a stronger fit for dedicated high-Faith casting. The Clawmark Seal is not automatically best for every hybrid.
Choose a weapon that fits your priorities
Compare a weapon’s requirements, scaling, damage types, skill, availability, and whether it requires the expansion. The listed requirements below are the figures in the cited Mobalytics guide; they are requirements, not recommended final stats.

- Collaborating with George R.R. Martin to create the ELDEN RING mythos has been a genuinely delightful experience and a source of wonderful inspiration. The team is working hard to ensure that the world of ELDEN RING will be a fascinating place for players to explore, filled with peril and wonder from its furthest reaches to its lowest depths. This is a FromSoftware title through and through, rich in fantasy and RPG action. We sincerely hope you look forward to it.
- Building the world of ELDEN RING with Miyazaki-san and his team was a treat! The graphics, mythos, and action-RPG gameplay will deliver an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait for people to see what ELDEN RING has in store for them.” Said George R.R. Martin.
| Weapon | Listed requirements | Why consider it | Availability and caveats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blasphemous Blade | Strength 22, Dexterity 15, Faith 21 | Physical and fire damage; Taker’s Flames offers ranged fire pressure and heals when it hits. | A strong general PvE centerpiece, not a universal answer for every encounter. PC Gamer’s example recommends meeting Strength and Dexterity requirements, then prioritizing Faith. |
| Golden Halberd | Strength 30, Dexterity 14, Faith 12 | An early Strength/Faith direction with physical and holy damage. | Consider it when its requirements fit your progression. |
| Ordovis’ Greatsword | Not stated (Game8 search-result excerpt) | A strength-forward alternative. | Game8’s accessible search excerpt provides only this limited characterization; detailed performance and acquisition information are not established here. |
| Black Steel Greathammer | Strength 25, Dexterity 11, Faith 17 | A hybrid option suited to shield-based play. | Requires Shadow of the Erdtree. |
| Sacred Relic Sword | Strength 14, Dexterity 24, Faith 22 | Wave of Gold makes it a late-game option for clearing groups. | Obtained by exchanging the Elden Remembrance after the Elden Beast; it is not an early-progression recommendation. |
Weapon details and listed requirements are from the Mobalytics Faith build guide, except the limited Ordovis’ Greatsword characterization from the Game8 Strength/Faith guide search result. For the Blasphemous Blade approach, see also PC Gamer’s Faith builds guide.
Use incantations to support melee combat
Faith can add buffs, healing, ranged attacks, and damage-type flexibility, but a hybrid should not assume it will cast as powerfully as a character built primarily around Faith. For a Blasphemous Blade setup, the cited guides recommend Golden Vow and Flame, Grant Me Strength. They can coexist because Golden Vow is an Aura Buff and Flame, Grant Me Strength is a Body Buff.

Prepare buffs before a difficult encounter, then adapt your damage type when an enemy resists your primary element. The Mobalytics guide identifies Fire, Lightning, Holy, and Physical as options to consider; maintaining an alternative helps avoid relying entirely on one type.

For Blasphemous Blade, PC Gamer’s guide advises: “Stats-wise, you should get Strength and Dexterity to the point where you can equip the Blasphemous Blade, then move on to prioritising Faith as your main offensive stat.” That is guidance for its example, not a universal rule for every Strength/Faith build. A more Strength-forward weapon choice or heavier use of the Clawmark Seal can justify a different balance.

- Choose the weapon and meet its requirements before setting damage-stat goals.
- Invest in survivability rather than treating every available level as an offensive-stat point.
- Lean further into Faith for Faith-scaling weapon damage and dedicated casting; lean further into Strength for a strength-forward melee plan and the Clawmark Seal’s hybrid scaling.
- Do not treat late-game or expansion weapons as progression recommendations if they are not yet available to your character.
