Obsidian’s latest reviewed live patch is 0.5.1, released September 11, 2026. The Centipede Boss Fight appears in the 0.6.0 Rot and Ruin public test build announced October 6, 2026; that announcement identifies it as test content, not a confirmed live-release feature. How King Dozer’s fight works
The encounter’s defining challenge is environmental heat management. Grounded 2 Game Director Chris Parker said players must “cool down his arena to both protect themself and keep Dozer from being buffed.” The arena is therefore part of the fight, not just its backdrop: managing heat helps you survive while also preventing the boss from gaining an advantage. Parker described this environmental interaction as unlike the tactics used in other fights.

The developer specifically notes King Dozer’s susceptibility to minty damage. No exact item counts, damage values, or mandatory equipment are established in the cited guidance.

How King Dozer compares with AXL
AXL is another documented Grounded 2 boss, introduced in the September 30, 2025 Hairy and Scary update. Obsidian says players can find the offering recipe to summon AXL in the world. Its listed rewards include tarantula armor, a bow and spear, a mutation, trinkets, and furnishings. The documented differences are encounter setup and reward types; they do not establish an official boss ranking or order.

Grounded 2’s evolving boss lineup
Grounded 2 remains an evolving Early Access/Game Preview game. Obsidian’s August 11, 2026 Into the Abyss update expanded underwater exploration, areas, and progression, and reiterated the game’s Early Access/Game Preview status. Its page lists Game Pass as an access route.
That context matters when judging claims that a particular encounter is “the last boss.” A public test announcement can preview future development without confirming that the content is already in the live game, and a major boss fight does not by itself establish that the story or boss lineup is complete.
