The Bod became easier to farm through two dated changes in January 2026: a developer-reported move from a low-percentage drop tier to the primary drop tier, and an official rule that makes Ultimate Vault Hunter (UVH) levels improve dedicated-loot drops. Neither establishes the Bod’s exact drop odds or the current Weekly Wildcard reward. Gearbox also featured it as a guaranteed reward in one October 2025 Wildcard mission, but that was a rotating event, not a permanent source.
What changed for Bod farming in January 2026?
The Bod moved to the primary drop tier
On January 23, 2026, GamesRadar+ reported that Gearbox associate creative director Grant Kao said the Bod was being moved “from the low % tier to the primary drop tier” to help players farming for the unique gun. This is a secondary report of a developer statement, not wording from official patch notes. The report supports that the Bod became easier to obtain from its dedicated source; it does not provide a drop-rate percentage or a guaranteed-drop claim. GamesRadar+’s January 23 report.

Higher UVH levels improve dedicated-loot drops
Gearbox’s official January 29, 2026 update notes say Ultimate Vault Hunter levels increase dedicated-loot drop levels, and that higher levels increase the chance of dedicated loot dropping. That is a general dedicated-loot rule, not a published Bod-specific percentage. If you are farming through the Bod’s dedicated drop, play at the highest UVH level you can handle reliably; the notes support the direction of the benefit, but do not quantify its size. What was the October 2025 guaranteed Bod reward?
On October 30, 2025, Gearbox listed the Bod as the guaranteed Legendary Gear Reward for the Weekly Wildcard Mission “Below the Surface.” Gearbox described the mechanic this way: “These missions feature a guaranteed Legendary drop that you can repeatedly earn to get your ideal roll.” That made the Bod a repeatable guaranteed reward while that mission reward was active; it does not mean the Bod remains the reward in later rotations. Weekly Wildcard missions change. Check the current in-game activity and its reward before committing to that route; the available evidence does not establish the October 8, 2026 reward.

Does the May 2026 balance change affect the farm?
No availability change is established by the May 28, 2026 balance summary. A Borderlands Wiki community transcription of Version 1.7 notes says the Bod counts as five weapon types—assault rifle, pistol, shotgun, sniper rifle, and SMG—and that generic Gun Damage scaling was reduced by about 60%, while specific gun-type damage continued to scale at 100%. - For the dedicated-drop route, use a UVH level you can clear consistently; Gearbox’s January 29, 2026 notes say higher levels increase dedicated-loot drop chances.
- Check the live Weekly Wildcard mission reward in game if you want to use that activity. The Bod was the reward for “Below the Surface” on October 30, 2025, but Wildcard rewards rotate.
- Do not assume Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine currently stocks the Bod: Gearbox says its offerings change and differ among players.
The January 2026 sources do not establish which patch is literally the latest on October 8, 2026. Treat the dated changes above as documented history, not confirmation of today’s patch or weekly rotation.
