If DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 lags online on PC, first identify whether you are seeing visual stutter, delayed actions during a battle, a communication error, or a matchmaking failure. Then try the low-cost checks: use a more stable connection, check other devices’ bandwidth use, restart the game and router, close other applications, and review VPN or network-security settings. Bandai Namco lists these as possible troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed fixes for every player.

Identify what “lag” looks like

Different symptoms point toward different checks. This distinction is a practical way to troubleshoot; it is not a diagnostic test supplied by the publisher.

  • Visual stutter or choppy motion: The game may be struggling to render frames locally. Try adjusting its graphics settings.
  • Delayed actions or desynchronization in a battle: Check connection stability and whether other devices are using substantial bandwidth.
  • A battle communication error: Bandai Namco lists several possible causes, including unstable connectivity, security software, and VPN use.
  • Difficulty finding or joining a match: Follow the publisher’s separate guidance for matching failures or long waits.

Try the recommended checks in order

  1. Test a more stable connection. If possible, switch to another network connection and see whether the symptom changes. Trying Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi is an optional way to test whether wireless instability contributes; Bandai Namco recommends trying a more stable connection, but does not specifically require a cable or promise that one will solve the issue.
  2. Check other devices on your network. PCs, consoles, phones, and other devices may be using substantial bandwidth. Pause heavy downloads or other high-bandwidth activity during a test match.
  3. Restart the game and network equipment. Fully close the game, restart it, and restart your router or other communication device.
  4. Close other applications. Shut down unnecessary applications while testing. This is also one of Bandai Namco’s suggestions for matching problems.
  5. Review VPN and security-tool settings. The publisher identifies VPN use and communication security software as possible factors in battle communication errors. Review their settings rather than permanently disabling security protection.
  6. Adjust graphics settings if the symptom is visual stutter. Lowering demanding settings can help test whether the issue is local frame delivery rather than the online connection.

Bandai Namco’s battle communication errors FAQ describes these as possible causes and suggests trying a stable connection, checking other devices’ usage, restarting equipment, closing applications, and reviewing graphics, security, and VPN settings. It does not identify the cause of an individual player’s problem.

If matchmaking fails or takes too long

Use Bandai Namco’s separate matching and communication FAQ for failed or slow matching. Before contacting support, record the exact error text and how often the problem occurs; the FAQ specifically asks for those details. Also try the stable-connection and close-other-applications checks.

What the PC requirements do—and do not—tell you

Steam lists broadband internet as a requirement for the PC game, but it does not publish a minimum connection speed, latency, or packet-loss target as a game requirement. A connection that meets a generic broadband label therefore cannot, by itself, establish that every online match will be smooth. Steam’s listing identifies online PvP and online co-op, but the cited official materials do not establish whether a particular lag incident originates on the player’s PC or network, another participant’s connection, or a service-side issue.

Steam’s current game listing provides the platform’s system requirements. Treat those as product requirements, not measurements of multiplayer performance or proof that a machine will avoid stutter.

When the problem persists

  • Note which symptom occurs and whether it happens in every match or only sometimes.
  • Keep the exact communication or matchmaking error text, if one appears, and how frequently it occurs.
  • Tell support what you have already tried: changing connections, checking other devices, restarting equipment, closing applications, and reviewing relevant VPN or security settings.
  • Check official notices for current service information before assuming there is a server outage. The cited FAQ and Steam pages do not establish a current outage or a definitive PC-specific bug.
