Some objects may no longer be available. Continue loading?”, don’t load the save yet. Bethesda says the warning means a mod or DLC that was enabled when the save was made is no longer enabled. Re-enable the content named in the warning, then check that the DLC is installed for the correct game version and that you’re using the account that owns it. Bethesda reported a fix for the missing-DLC issue in the PS4 Anniversary Edition on February 10, 2026, so the older Next Gen Update problem should not be treated as universally unresolved.
What the “content is no longer present” warning means
Bethesda’s explanation is that a mod or DLC enabled when the save was created is no longer enabled. The warning can appear when content is absent, disabled, or not recognized by the installed game. It does not by itself prove that the DLC was permanently deleted or that you need to buy it again.

Before continuing, note the DLC or mod named in the message. Bethesda’s first instruction is to re-enable the identified content before loading the save. Loading without it may leave some objects unavailable in that save.
First check: account, edition, and game version
- Use the purchasing account. For eligible digital DLC transferred to a newer console, Bethesda says to sign in with the same PSN ID or Xbox Gamertag used to buy it. If the store offers a price rather than an install or download option, verify the account and game edition before purchasing anything again. Bethesda’s DLC transfer eligibility guidance.
- Match the DLC to the game build. Bethesda specifically says that players using the PlayStation 5 upgraded version need the PS5 version of the DLC. An installed add-on for another console version may not satisfy the PS5 game. Check the add-on listing for the version you are actually playing. Bethesda’s missing-content support article.
- Distinguish installation from ownership. DLC can be owned but not installed, installed for a different edition, or unavailable to the account currently signed in. Resolve which state applies before deleting content or buying it again.
Reinstall or enable DLC by platform
Use the storefront or console’s game-management controls for the platform where Fallout 4 is installed. Bethesda provides these steps for Steam and Xbox One; menu names may differ on newer consoles or after platform updates.

PlayStation disc-to-digital transitions
If the problem began after switching from a PS4 disc copy to a digital copy, Bethesda’s guidance for that specific transition says the game and DLC need separate installations. It recommends installing each DLC from the Library and then installing the digital game; if that does not work, reinstalling is suggested. What changed after the Next Gen Update
The issue’s status depends on platform and date. Bethesda’s patch notes say an update released on February 10, 2026, for Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition on PS4 fixed the missing-DLC problem. That is directly relevant to earlier PS4 reports; it does not establish that every platform or every installation-state error is fixed.
Bethesda’s November 17, 2025 hotfix notes discussed a DLC-dependent Creations activation issue and an issue causing DLC to uninstall on PlayStation. At that time, affected players were advised to activate Creations only after all DLC had fully installed. The later February 2026 PS4 fix changes the status of the specific PS4 missing-DLC issue, so the November advice should not be read as proof that it remains unfixed.

The May 27, 2026 update described changes to Creations storage, including Xbox Creations being cleared on first launch after the update and needing to be downloaded again. Those notes concern Creations storage; they do not say that Fallout 4 expansion DLC was deleted. Bethesda’s Fallout 4 patch notes.

Bethesda lists Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and PS4. Its support page describes an Anniversary Edition Upgrade for standard-edition owners that includes six expansions and more than 150 Creation Club items. It also says Game of the Year Edition owners who want Creation Club content can purchase the Creations Bundle separately. These are purchase and edition options, not repairs for DLC you already own but the game fails to recognize. If the DLC is still missing
- Return to the game’s main menu rather than loading the affected save.
- Check the account currently signed in against the account that purchased the DLC.
- Verify that the installed game edition and DLC version match, especially for the PS5 upgraded version.
- Use the platform-specific management steps above to confirm the add-on is installed or reinstall it.
- Re-enable any named DLC or mod, then try loading the save.
- If the Xbox app on PC reports DLC as installed while Fallout 4 still rejects it, consult Bethesda Support for updates; Bethesda’s cited article describes that case as under investigation and does not offer a confirmed fix.
