To move through a Football Manager 2022 season with less hands-on play, use Continue to advance the calendar and delegate selected jobs through Staff > Responsibilities. For individual matches, Instant Result is documented specifically for FM22 Xbox Edition; it is not a universal control across every FM22 platform.
Check which FM22 edition you are playing
FM22 was released for PC/Mac, Xbox Edition, Mobile, and Nintendo Switch-only Touch. The edition matters because the documented Instant Result feature applies to FM22 Xbox Edition, while the official quickstart manual describes calendar progression and staff delegation for the PC game. The release notice identifies the platform editions but does not provide a complete cross-edition control guide. Football Manager’s 8 November 2021 release notice lists the release platforms.
Advance the season with Continue
On PC, the official FM22 quickstart manual describes time advancing when you click Continue. The calendar moves incrementally, with days progressing into weeks, months, and years. Use Continue after handling the inbox items and decisions you want to manage yourself; the game then advances toward the next date that requires attention. Sports Interactive and SEGA’s 2021 FM22 Quickstart Manual explains this basic progression.
This is calendar advancement, not a single documented “simulate full season” switch. The manual does not establish a universal holiday workflow or a precise sequence for selecting a return date that works across all editions.

Delegate tasks to make progression more hands-off
On PC, open Staff > Responsibilities to assign tasks to backroom staff. The quickstart manual recommends the Responsibilities tab for delegation. This can reduce the decisions you personally handle as the calendar moves forward, but it is not a guarantee that every task or match will be managed identically in every edition.
Choose responsibilities based on what you still want to control. If you want to retain involvement in particular areas, leave those jobs with yourself; delegate only the tasks you are comfortable handing to staff. The manual does not specify a required set of responsibilities for simulating an entire season.

Skip an individual match in FM22 Xbox Edition
Xbox Wire documents Instant Result for FM22 Xbox Edition. It skips straight to the final whistle and simulates the match result. This is a way to bypass an individual match rather than evidence of a season-long simulation control. The feature description does not establish that the same option exists on PC/Mac, Mobile, or Nintendo Switch Touch. Xbox Wire’s 19 October 2021 FM22 Xbox Edition overview describes Instant Result.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to expect when you sim forward
- Continue advances the calendar incrementally on the PC version described by the quickstart manual.
- Responsibilities lets you delegate selected jobs to staff; it is not a documented full-season automation toggle.
- Instant Result simulates an individual match in Xbox Edition, according to Xbox Wire.
- Official sources cited here do not establish identical menus, staff behavior, outcomes, or season-simulation controls across all FM22 editions.
Check the menus in your installed edition before relying on a particular shortcut. FM22’s official PC manual is a quickstart guide, and the Xbox feature article covers Instant Result rather than a universal method for selecting a holiday return date or simulating every fixture.
