Springtrap is playable in Dead by Daylight as The Animatronic, a Killer in the Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover chapter. Behaviour’s launch announcement identifies him as William Afton and describes gameplay built around surveillance, pursuit and jump scares. The “first time” claim applies to playing Springtrap in Dead by Daylight; the available sources do not establish that this is his first playable appearance across the entire FNAF franchise.
Is Springtrap a Killer in Dead by Daylight?
Yes. The chapter’s playable Killer is Springtrap, officially named The Animatronic in Dead by Daylight. Behaviour identifies the character as William Afton. His official character page currently rates his difficulty as Hard.
The crossover is a digital DLC chapter, not a separate game. On Steam, the listing says the base game is required. Current prices and complete regional or platform availability have not been established here. Steam listing
How does Springtrap play?
His power, Fazbear’s Fright, combines a projectile attack with a network of Security Doors. The official character page describes the current mechanics; balance and wording can change, so consult it for the latest details. The Animatronic character page

Springtrap launches a projectile that can embed in a Survivor. A hit leaves that Survivor Broken and Oblivious, and unable to heal until they remove it. If the projectile narrowly misses, Killer Instinct briefly highlights the Survivor.
Security Doors and Rooms
Seven Security Doors appear at the start of a Trial. Springtrap can enter a door, see the aura of every door, and leave through another, giving him a way to reposition across the map. If he enters a room occupied by a Survivor, he grabs them instantly.

Survivors can enter Security Doors to reach Security Rooms, switch between cameras and operate doors. The Survivors share a battery supply, limiting camera and door use until power recharges. The network therefore gives Survivors useful information and control, but interacting with it also creates an opportunity for Springtrap to catch them by surprise.
What comes with the FNAF chapter?
The chapter includes three Killer perks: Help Wanted, Phantom Fear and Haywire. Their exact mechanics may be adjusted, so the live character page is the best reference for current in-game wording.

- Phantom Fear: A Survivor within Springtrap’s Terror Radius who looks at him screams and briefly reveals their Aura. The perk has a cooldown.
- Haywire: Exit Gates regress, and their lights flicker for Survivors while they do. Behaviour’s launch description says regression begins once Exit Gates are fully powered and a Survivor is forced to leave; check the live page for current wording.
What is Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place like?
The crossover’s map setting includes Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place, designed with both indoor and outdoor areas. Xbox Wire’s feature says the exterior spaces were included to support larger, more dynamic gameplay loops alongside the recognizable building.
The environment includes the Dining Hall, stage, kitchen, air ducts and mechanical rooms, as well as Freddy, Chica and Bonnie figures. These are map details, not additional playable characters in the chapter. Associate Art Director Chase Toole described the contrast behind the setting: “It’s such a fun idea to have juxtaposing ideas in horror,” pairing the image of a children’s pizzeria with FNAF’s gruesome imagery. When did the chapter come out?
Behaviour’s launch article, dated May 27, 2025, said the chapter was available. Xbox Wire’s feature was updated on May 28 with a correction saying the Xbox version became available June 17, 2025.
