If Battlefield 6 opens but Campaign will not continue, first check that its campaign content and add-ons are installed. EA documented a PS5 crash when selecting Continue with no add-ons installed, but that older note does not establish the cause of every current loading problem. Match the fix to where the failure occurs: game launch, Campaign selection, Continue, a specific mission, or an online connection error.
First, identify where loading stops
Note the exact error message or code and the point at which it appears. The distinction matters: a game that will not launch calls for general PS5 launch troubleshooting, while a Continue crash has a specific historical EA content-related lead. Connection steps are relevant only when the error points to connectivity.
- Game will not launch: follow the PS5 launch steps below.
- Campaign or Continue fails: check installed campaign content and add-ons first.
- One mission or checkpoint hangs: record its name and whether the same point fails after restarting; the available official guidance does not establish a mission-specific fix.
- An online or connection error appears: use the network checks below.
Check Battlefield 6 campaign content and add-ons
EA’s in-game instructions let you inspect installed content. Close the game before installing or reinstalling content; EA says the game must be closed while installation is in progress.
- In Battlefield 6, open Settings > System > Setup.
- Select Edit next to Install/Uninstall.
- Confirm the content you need for Campaign is selected and installed. If content is unchecked, select it to install.
- If the game reports a named missing-content error, uncheck and recheck that specific content to reinstall it.
- After installation completes, launch the game and try Campaign again.
These are EA’s content-check and missing-content instructions, not a guaranteed cure for every loading hang. See EA’s Battlefield 6 installation and purchase guidance.

If Continue crashes, consider EA’s documented add-on issue
EA’s version 1.1.1.0 known-issues post said that on PS5 and Xbox the game may crash when pressing Continue in Campaign if no add-ons are installed. That is a dated report about a particular failure pattern, not confirmation that the issue remains in the current game build or explains other Campaign loading failures.
Check and install the relevant content using the in-game path above, make sure the game is updated, then retry Continue. EA’s note is available in its version 1.1.1.0 known-issues post.
Check licenses and account access if the game is locked
If a padlock appears beside Battlefield 6 or its content, Sony says it can indicate a license problem. Check that you are using the account that purchased the game, confirm the transaction or any required active subscription, and check Console Sharing and Offline Play if another account owns it. Also check whether PlayStation Network is available.

Follow Sony’s license troubleshooting steps and review PlayStation Network service status. A license check is most relevant when content is locked or access is denied; it is not a universal fix for a mission that hangs during loading.
If Battlefield 6 itself will not start
For a launch failure, Sony’s general PS5 sequence starts with less disruptive checks and moves toward reinstalling. Try these in order:
- Restart the PS5.
- Restore licenses from the console’s account settings.
- Delete Battlefield 6 and redownload it; use a wired internet connection if possible.
- Check for and install the latest PS5 system software.
- In Safe Mode, use Clear Cache and Rebuild Database.
- If the game is installed on USB extended storage, move it to the console’s internal storage.
Sony lists reinstalling system software as a later step and says to back up data first. Consult Sony’s PS5 game-start troubleshooting guide before using Safe Mode or reinstalling system software.

Use network fixes only for a connection error
If the on-screen message indicates a connection or service problem, restart the game and router, then check EA server and PlayStation Network status. Try a wired connection if one is available. EA Community Manager EA_Salmon advised a player reporting a PS5 connection failure: “Please try fully restarting the game and your PS5, then restart your router and make sure your PlayStation Network connection is working normally.” That advice applies to connectivity symptoms; it does not show that network trouble causes an offline mission-loading hang.
EA’s Battlefield 6 connection and installation guidance covers the relevant connection error class. EA_Salmon’s reply is in an EA Forums PS5 connectivity thread.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat to include when contacting support
If the problem continues, give support enough detail to distinguish a launch issue from a Campaign or connection fault. Sony asks players to provide the error code or message, a description and reproduction steps, and a screenshot or video if possible.
- Where it fails: game launch, Campaign selection, Continue, or a named mission/checkpoint.
- The exact error text or code, or whether the screen simply stays black or loading.
- Whether campaign content and add-ons appear installed.
- What you tried and what happened after each step.
- A screenshot or short video, if you can capture one.
