Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Map Changes: The Wasteland and New POIs

A sandstorm created Fortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 3 southern wasteland, bringing vehicle-themed locations including Redline Rig, Nitrodrome, and Brutal Beachhead. Guides differ on whether Sandy Steppes makes the total three or four new POIs.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked reshaped the island most visibly in the south: a sandstorm left a wasteland biome in its wake, with vehicle-themed locations built around the season’s Wasteland Warriors. The standout additions were Redline Rig, Nitrodrome, and Brutal Beachhead. One launch guide counts Sandy Steppes as a fourth new POI, so the total depends on how locations are counted.

What changed on the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 map?

Epic’s May 24, 2024 announcement described a ferocious sandstorm moving over the island and creating a new wasteland biome in the south. Launch coverage placed the visible changes largely in the bottom-middle and southern part of the island, rather than describing a broad redesign across every region.

The new terrain set the stage for Wrecked’s vehicle-combat theme. Nitro, vehicle modifications, Service Stations, a Repair Torch, and the War Bus connected the map’s altered look to how players moved and fought that season. Epic listed modifications such as turrets, spiked bumpers, Cow Catchers, and tires in its Wrecked season announcement.

Which locations were added, and how many new POIs were there?

The prominent new locations were Redline Rig, Nitrodrome, and Brutal Beachhead. Launch guides differ on the total: Charlie INTEL listed three new POIs, while The Escapist counted four by including Sandy Steppes. The difference is a counting distinction, not evidence of a different season map.

What made each new location stand out?

Redline Rig: a refinery in the wasteland

Redline Rig gave the southern biome an industrial anchor. Epic identified it as a Nitro refinery run by The Machinist, tying the site directly to the season’s vehicle-focused theme and one of its Wasteland Warriors.

Nitrodrome: a car spectacle venue

Nitrodrome was designed around Ringmaster Scarr’s car spectacle. Epic uses the spelling “Nitrodrome”; Charlie INTEL’s May 24 launch guide spells the location “Nitrodome.” When recounting that guide’s list or replacement claim, its spelling is preserved here only as a source-specific difference.

Brutal Beachhead: Megalo Don’s base

Brutal Beachhead was associated with Megalo Don, making it another character-linked addition to the new southern territory. Its name and role helped signal how far the island’s established feel had shifted toward Wrecked’s rough, vehicle-centered setting.

Sandy Steppes: the extra location in one count

Was a location removed or replaced?

Charlie INTEL reported that Fencing Fields was the only POI removed at launch and that Nitrodome replaced it. Epic’s announcement confirms the new southern biome and describes Redline Rig and Nitrodrome, but does not independently confirm that replacement. Treat the Fencing Fields detail as Charlie INTEL’s launch-day account rather than an officially corroborated map-change statement.

When did Wrecked take place?

Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked launched on May 24, 2024, and is a historical season, not a current map state. Epic initially gave August 16, 2024, at 2 AM ET as the Battle Pass end date, then updated its announcement to say the season and pass would end August 15, 2024, at 11 PM ET. The same launch announcement listed the Battle Pass at 950 V-Bucks; that was its launch price, not a current offer.
