Festival Season 4 brought a new 16-player Battle Stage, while Epic’s ecosystem announcement covered Creator Portal and UEFN changes. This is a historical guide: the event dates and item windows below describe Epic’s 2024 announcements, not what is currently available.
What changed in Fortnite v30.10?
Epic’s v30.10 announcements focused on the Metallica collaboration and Festival Season 4. The update’s highlighted changes differed by mode: Battle Royale received a rideable lightning guitar and a themed Loot Island; Festival added Battle Stage and gameplay adjustments; Rocket Racing introduced Thrash Mountain; and the ecosystem update covered Creator Portal and UEFN tools. Epic’s posts describe announced highlights rather than a complete inventory of every client change.
Battle Royale: Ride the Lightning and Metallica Loot Island
Epic announced that Ride the Lightning guitars would appear on the Battle Royale island and in Chests. The guitar created a lightning arc that squadmates could ride. A floating Metallica Loot Island was also announced, with a stage inspired by the band’s M72 World Tour. Players could capture the point of interest and find loot there, including Ride the Lightning. Epic’s June 12, 2024 Metallica announcement listed themed Battle Royale quests and other content through July 2, 2024, at 9 AM ET; that window has passed.
Metallica Cup
Epic announced the Metallica Cup for June 18, 2024. Players had a ten-match limit during their region’s three-hour play window and had to meet the event’s account eligibility requirements. Those were event-specific conditions for the 2024 competition, not a current tournament schedule.

Fortnite Festival Season 4: Battle Stage and gameplay updates
Fortnite Festival Season 4 launched with v30.10 on June 13, 2024. Epic later corrected the season’s announced end time to August 15, 2024, at 11 PM ET. Its central new mode was Battle Stage, which offered a competitive format built around a four-song setlist.
How Battle Stage worked
- Public matches could include up to 16 players.
- Players performed the same four-song setlist, and the lowest-scoring players were eliminated after songs until one player remained.
- Players could use Overdrive to attack opponents, and matchmaking was based on skill rating.
- Private matches were available for parties of up to four.
These mechanics are as described in Epic’s June 12, 2024 Festival announcement; they should not be taken as confirmation of the mode’s current availability or rules.

Festival Pass and Jam Track changes
The Season 4 Festival Pass had free and premium reward tracks. Epic stated that the Premium Reward Track upgrade cost 1,800 V-Bucks in its June 12, 2024 announcement. Buying it immediately unlocked Lars Ulrich’s Outfit, with other Metallica Outfits available through progression. Epic also said pass items were not exclusive and might later be sold in the Shop, so the announcement does not establish present-day availability or pricing.
Starting with v30.10, players could equip owned Jam Tracks as Lobby Tracks. This describes the feature announced for the update; it does not confirm which tracks are currently obtainable.
