To get Grass Seeds in Grounded 2, chop a tall Grass Flower with a seed-bearing head, then collect the seeds as they fall. An early reported place to look is the grass just outside Ranger Outpost: Snackbar. Ordinary grass does not provide Grass Seeds.
Where to find Grass Flowers
Start in the grass around Ranger Outpost: Snackbar, an early accessible source reported by multiple guides. The guides also report Grass Flowers elsewhere, but do not establish a complete list of current spawn locations or exact coordinates.
How to identify and collect Grass Seeds
- Look above the grass canopy. Grass Flowers have tall, thin stalks with bundles or fuzzy seed heads at the top. Ordinary grass is shorter; dandelions and husky weeds can also appear among the taller plants, so check the plant’s top.
- Chop the Grass Flower. Use the standard Omni-Axe. Chopping ordinary grass or searching the ground at random is not the reported way to obtain seeds.
- Follow the drops and pick them up. Seeds may be easy to overlook, bounce, or roll away after the plant is chopped.
What Grass Seeds are used for
First Omni-Shovel upgrade
A guide published July 29, 2025, reports that the first Omni-Shovel upgrade costs 350 Science, one Grass Seed, and two Sprigs. Keep a seed if this upgrade is your immediate goal, and check the recipe in your current game build because the reported cost may have changed. The guide says the shovel helps uncover burrowing grubs and larvae and advances the shovel progression.
Green Machine smoothie
A separate guide published July 29, 2025, reports that Grass Seeds can be used in the Green Machine smoothie after you build a Smoothie Station; it describes the drink as healing and improving stamina regeneration. That guide also reports that chopping Grass Flowers yields Weed Stems. Check both details in your current build.
