Gunzilla Games announced it had acquired Game Informer on March 25, 2025. The relaunch restored the magazine’s website and archive, brought back the team that had been working there when it closed, and included plans to return to print. Editor-in-chief Matt Miller said the publication would operate as Game Informer Inc. and make editorial decisions independently; the available announcements do not spell out formal safeguards for that independence or disclose the deal’s financial terms.
What Gunzilla’s acquisition changed
Gunzilla’s March 25, 2025 announcement said it had acquired Game Informer, relaunched its website, and planned to make the magazine’s back issues available digitally at no cost. Gunzilla Games’ acquisition announcement established the relaunch, while Miller’s return letter described the publication’s restored site and archive.
Miller said the former team had returned, writing: “The whole team has returned, and we can’t wait to connect with you again.” He said the operation would run through a new entity, Game Informer Inc. He also described the return of daily news, reviews, previews, features, and event coverage.
What came back online
The restored archive includes thousands of articles and more than a decade of past magazine issues, according to Miller. He said creating a new account provided access to that magazine archive. These are his descriptions of the restored collection, not independently audited counts.

What Game Informer said about print and editorial independence
Miller said print would return and that Gunzilla supported an independent editorial outlet. He described the acquisition as having followed consultation with the team. Those statements set out the relaunch’s plans and stated policy; the sources do not explain contractual protections, governance procedures, or independent oversight that would enforce editorial independence. The return of print was announced, but current frequency and availability are not established by the site information reviewed.

What remains undisclosed
The public announcements reviewed do not disclose the purchase price or other financial terms. They also do not establish how editorial independence is formally protected. It is therefore possible to report the acquisition, the restored publication, and the editor’s stated commitments, but not to characterize the deal’s economics or claim that a particular independence mechanism is in place.
