To trait gear in Throne and Liberty, use Trait Unlockstones to unlock its traits, then use compatible Trait Enhancement Stones to improve them. Trait Resonance is a separate progression system with its own materials and rolls. These instructions reflect the system introduced in Update 4.0.0 and checked against Update 4.15.0, released October 7, 2026.
What you need to trait gear
Start by identifying the exact equipment piece and its rarity or tier. The current system uses different materials for unlocking traits and enhancing them; check the item and material tooltips before spending stones.
- Trait Unlockstones unlock the trait options on a piece of gear. Update 4.0.0 says each piece has three traits to unlock.
- Trait Enhancement Stones provide enhancement experience for unlocked traits. Their item level determines which gear they can be used on.
- Heroic equipment requires the corresponding Heroic versions of the unlock and enhancement stones.
Amazon Games does not publish a complete current cost table for every item or the experience value of every stone in the cited update notes. Use the current in-game item tooltip and material description to confirm the requirements for your specific piece.
How to unlock and enhance traits
- Select the equipment you want to progress. Confirm its tier or rarity, including whether it is Heroic.
- Check stone compatibility. Match the equipment to the appropriate Trait Unlockstones and confirm that each Trait Enhancement Stone’s item level is compatible with the gear.
- Unlock the traits. Use Trait Unlockstones to unlock the piece’s three trait options.
- Enhance unlocked traits. Use compatible Trait Enhancement Stones to apply enhancement experience to the traits you have unlocked.
The exact stone cost and experience required depend on the item and are not established as one universal amount in the official update notes. Do not assume that any stone works on any gear.

How Trait Resonance works
Trait Resonance is an additional progression track, not another way to unlock or enhance a piece’s three traits. It has four slots; each can be rolled up to 10, and the combined value determines the resonance effect stage. Growth is chance-based.
Update 4.15.0 increased Trait Resonance growth success rates, but Amazon Games did not publish the new numeric rate. The update also added this recipe for a Trait Resonance Stone:

What changed in the 2026 overhaul
Update 4.0.0, released June 24, 2026, replaced the former enhancement, transfer, and sync systems and removed the old Enhancement UI. Trait growth now uses common materials rather than the previous duplicate-item and extract-based process. The current system is described in Amazon Games’ Update 4.0.0 notes.

As a result, older guides that recommend feeding duplicate gear, using Trait Extraction or auction-house extracts, or relying on Blessing and conversion stones are describing mechanics that predate the overhaul. The older official business-model explanation also describes that former process; it is not a current step-by-step guide.
Choosing traits for your build
There is no established current best-trait list covering every equipment slot, class, weapon pairing, and PvE or PvP situation. Evaluate traits against your build, combat mode, and weapon synergy rather than treating a static ranking as universal.

The October 2026 Resistance Report says Hit Chance and Evasion values vary greatly depending on the opponent and weapon combination, and that further changes are planned for November. The team said details would come through upcoming release notes. Recheck those notes before relying on a fixed Hit Chance or Evasion priority; the October report does not specify the final changes.
