Here are the details that can be grounded in developer information or a specifically reported discovery—and how to explore without mistaking a preview observation for a complete guide.
Silksong’s secrets are built into its exploration
Team Cherry describes Silksong as a “vast interconnected world” in a “traditional, hand-crafted, 2D style.” Hornet searches for the truth behind her capture and, in the developer’s words, will “discover shocking secrets and solve ancient mysteries.” That framing makes exploration more than a route between fights: the world’s places, quests, and mechanisms invite players to investigate.
The official feature list names coral forests, mossy grottos, gilded cities, and misted moors, alongside quests involving rare beasts, mysteries, and lost treasure. These are clues to the kinds of discoveries the game encourages, not a verified inventory of secret rooms or hidden events. Team Cherry’s original announcement also explained that the project “quickly became too large and too unique to stay a DLC, as initially planned.”

- Look beyond the obvious route. Check ledges and side passages as you move through an interconnected area; a path that looks secondary may lead to exploration content.
- Revisit places with new movement options. A route that was inaccessible or awkward earlier may become reachable as Hornet’s movement toolkit develops.
- Inspect mechanisms rather than rushing past. The official feature list specifically calls out traps and mechanisms, so pay attention to objects that appear to respond to interaction.
These are exploration strategies, not claims that every suspicious wall hides a passage. Official materials do not establish a comprehensive list of breakable walls, hidden rooms, or their triggers.

Use Hornet’s abilities and Tools as exploration clues
Xbox Wire’s Gamescom preview described Hornet as faster and more precise than the original game’s protagonist, with mantling and a Bind ability that restores health. It also observed Tools such as the Straight Pin and Silkspear, plus Rosaries and Shell Shards as collectibles in the public demo. Those details can help explain how movement, combat, and pickups interact, but the preview was based on a demo—not a complete survey of the finished game.
When investigating a suspicious area, consider whether a movement ability, tool, or nearby mechanism might matter. Do not assume a particular tool is required for a secret unless a reliable guide documents that exact trigger. Precise mechanics can also change: Team Cherry’s patch notes for version 1.0.29242, for example, include a fix involving Styx and Rosaries in the Queen’s Egg delivery interaction. Check the current patch notes before relying on a claimed glitch or exact interaction.

Steel Soul mode: a reported Extras-menu code
Spoiler warning: This section names an optional post-completion challenge mode and gives its unlock sequence. PC Gamer reported on September 9, 2025 that entering the following sequence in the Extras menu unlocks Steel Soul mode:
- Open Extras.
- Enter Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.
PC Gamer said it tested the unlock and described Steel Soul as a permadeath mode. Try the code only if you are comfortable risking a run; this discovery is reported by the outlet, not identified as an official Team Cherry announcement.

General official descriptions confirm that exploration, quests, tools, and secrets are part of the design, but they are not a catalog of every discovery. Team Cherry’s December 15, 2025 update announced Sea of Sorrow, a free nautical-themed expansion planned for 2026, with new areas, bosses, tools, and more. The announcement did not reveal its specific secrets. Whether the expansion has since launched is not established here; consult a newer official update before treating any expansion content as available.
