What changed in Helldivers 2 patch 5.0.2?
Arrowhead Game Studios’ official Helldivers 2 news archive lists “Into the Unjust: 5.0.2” on January 22, 2026. The update’s main stealth changes are intended to make suppressed weapons draw less attention during combat.

- The firing noise radius of suppressed weapons was reduced by roughly 50%, according to the patch notes. That figure describes the noise radius, not a 50% reduction in the chance of being detected.
- The notes also say the range at which certain enemies detect danger—such as being shot at without being hit—was reduced for Devastators, Berserkers, Spewers, Chargers, Impalers, and Observers. The change is limited to those listed units and the described detection behavior; it is not a claim that every enemy or detection mechanic changed.
- The M-1000 Maxigun received a muzzle adjustment intended to reduce its flash.
The patch announcement’s framing is restrained: “Remember: stealth is a tool, not a substitute for overwhelming firepower.”
What is a Commando mission in Helldivers 2?
Commando missions send squads behind enemy lines for deep operations without the usual reliance on air superiority. Arrowhead’s announcement says the missions require players to plan around restricted support, but it does not publish a complete ruleset or comparative completion data.

- AR-59 Suppressor: a fully automatic rifle with a non-removable suppressor.

The Warbond announcement’s subheading invites players to “Stick to stealth or try the commando route with new weapons and looks.” The Warbond’s gear is separate from the patch-level suppressor changes: owning or unlocking these items is not stated as a requirement for the update’s stealth balance changes or Commando missions.
When did Commando missions and Redacted Regiment launch?
The Warbond was initially announced with a January 20 launch date. Arrowhead’s later January 22 patch announcement said Commando missions would activate alongside the Warbond on January 22. For the mission and Warbond timing, that later announcement superseded the earlier date.

Do you need the base game to unlock Redacted Regiment?
Yes. The official unlock notice says Redacted Regiment “Requires base game, Super Credits and game progression to unlock.” Current Warbond pricing and regional storefront availability are not established by that notice.
What else changed in the PC update?
Patch 5.0.2 also switched the slim PC build to the default, while retaining the larger build temporarily during the transition. The announcement does not specify how long that temporary period would last.
