These are practical recommendations, not official weapon-test results. Exact damage, magazine capacity, reload behavior, and ammunition replenishment figures are not established here, so avoid planning around specific shot counts or damage thresholds.
How to use it effectively
- Pick a target where an explosive shot has clear utility. Look for a bug hole or fabricator you need to deal with, rather than firing simply because an enemy is nearby.
- Account for the projectile arc. The shot does not travel like a perfectly straight bullet. Practice judging its trajectory and adjust your aim, especially when targeting an objective from range.
- Take deliberate shots. Treat each round as a utility opportunity. The available evidence does not establish exact ammunition counts or how many hits a particular target requires.
- Reconsider your throwable choice. If the pistol is covering an explosive role for your loadout, another grenade type may fit the mission better.
What to carry in the throwable slot
The Grenade Pistol can give you room to choose a throwable for a different job, but there is no single best pairing established. PC Gamer suggests considering incendiary grenades against bugs or stun grenades against bots when the pistol supplies explosive utility. Treat those as situational options: choose based on the enemies and objectives in the mission, not as a universal build.

When it may not fit your loadout
Consider whether you need your sidearm to function mainly as a close-range emergency weapon. The pistol’s cited value is objective-focused explosive utility, and using it well means learning its arc and choosing shots deliberately. If that role is less useful to your mission than a readily available sidearm, weigh that trade-off before committing to it.

Arrowhead’s February 3, 2026 patch notes announce general improvements to sidearms and throwables, but do not give GP-31-specific performance values. Its June 4, 2026 notes describe a weapon-customization system and attachment unlocks, but do not establish GP-31-specific customization in the cited material. Neither set of notes supports assuming particular GP-31 stats or customization options.
